Love this rifle, and wish I could have picked up a bunch more!! I waited a while after purchase to review, to make sure there weren't any issues which would pop up later, and there haven't been. Bud's was great, and all was as promised. Thanks, Bud's!!

This gun was a LEMON and a half !!!! This rifle was one of two guns from my first purchase at buds.com. Because of my initial unfamiliarity with this rifle at the time of pickup from my local ffl, I failed to notice that the safety selector switch was broken off and that under the the layer of cosmoline, the rifle had a damaged chamber. A certain spot of pitting which leads to constant FTE problems; brass cased, laquered and unlaquered steel cased ammunition all have problems cycling. Dont make the same mistake, go over your purchase with a finely toothed comb. i know my next purchase will certainly be scrutinized before I sign the transfer papers. This gun was a LEMON and a half !!!! .

The gun I received was built in 1970 and had all matching serials. So much cosmoline the FFL wouldn't take it out of the box, but that means a better preserved gun for me. Metal was good, wood had lots of dings but no cracks. Completely removed the firing pin to clean it and replaced it with a Murray's spring-loaded. Took it to the range and it has shot without issue for the 200 or so rounds so far.

I have bought 2 guns from Buds. Everything was as advertised. Just did some cleaning on the SKS, and the metal looks to be unfired. Bright and undamaged. I am very happy with both purchases. Great job, Buds

What can I say, but one great rifle!!!! I've never really been into military issued rifles much, but this is a very cool rifle to have... I was very pleased how quick the order was shipped... The thing was caked in cosmoline, but with a little kerosene it was nothing to get off... Once it was cleaned up. it made a very beautiful rifle... Sure, it has a few nicks in the stock, and a scrath or two on the bluing, but still very nice all around... Besides what do you expect a rifle this old, to me it gives it character... This baby is very accurate on the range too... Cheap to shoot, and would make a good deer hunting rifle. I did manage to upgrade to a Murrays Firing Pin, because even after a very good cleaning the firing pin would stick in the firing position from time to time. Im my opinion, this is a much very built rifle than the Norinco... A lot of my friends love their Norincos, but after checking out my Yugo, they are suprised how much better this rifle feels in your hands. They also love the fact that the Yugo has glow in the dark sites, which is not mentioned in the description... I give BUD'S a big Thumbs UP!!!!

With this being my first sks I was hoping it looked as good as the picture and get an unissued rifle. Although it was an issued one it still looks and functions great and plan on getting an unissued sks in the near future. This is my second purchase with Buds Gun Shop and it won't be the last keep up the good work and great prices.

Long story short - I love this rifle. Have not had a chance to shoot it yet, but I'm sure it will be great. Fourth order from Bud's and again, their service was 5-star. The order was placed late Tuesday evening and picked it up at my FFL about 10am Friday Morning. The description of the lot's condition is not misleading; I'm going to go with Joseph W and give the rifle itself it 4 stars overall as a restoration project. Regarding the metal: it was in good shape for a piece that was probably manufactured circa 1969 and was definitely used; Wear and tear wise there was only a very slight deformity of the leading edge of the front sight guard to complain about. No big deal. The bluing was in relatively good shape with only some reasonable wear on high contact edges: rear edge of the receiver cover, front sight guard, front sling attachment, bottom edges of the magazine cover. All of this was easily fixed with a little Perma-Blu. The firing pin was not frozen, but even after breaking down the bolt and thoroughly cleaning it, it still stuck more than not, so I replaced it with a new Murray's spring-loaded pin. The stock was another matter. It will always remind me of a Rodney Dangerfield routine: "I tell ya, I'm alright now, but last week I was in rough shape, ya know..." Of course the cosmoline to remove, but lots of dents, cuts, dings and two deep circular gouges, one on either side of the bayonet slot that looked like someone had tried to hammer a .45 casing into the wood with a spray of big splinters sticking up around the circumference of each...some of which are still working their way out of my palm heel. To fix those two gouges, there was no half-way available so I got to study up a bit and do my first total refinishing. Cleaning, sanding, two coats of Minwax Sedona Red, and six coats of Tru-Oil later, it still has plenty of "character", but its looks beautiful and I'm really happy with it and got a lot of personal satisfaction from the process. I definitely feel more of a personal connection with this piece than any other I own.

recieved this rifle several weeks ago. havent had time to respond and write about it. buds shipping excellent and arrived before act. delivery date. picked up from ffl, had already called and told them it was coming [they are one of buds ffl's on their list]. went picked it up, packed in grease as expected. got it home gave it a complete tear down bolt included, very important. after soaking and scrubbing in parts washer, and checking gun over, better than good condition, maybe even unissuid, ffl even said rifle better than good cond. [already knew what his price was on this rifle].any way this was my first purchase with buds and i will not hesitate to buy from them again. rifle looks like brand new after restore of wood ,dead on accurate.

Took it apart and cleaned this sks of packing grease and am very satisfied with the machining. So much better than any or my AK47s that I bought from Bud's Guns. Everything is milled, not stamped. The stock needs refinishing because it was used but the rest is very good for a used military rifle. No rust; good blueing, great triger assembly. The more I look it over the better I like it. It's as heavy as my old M14 (A1 .308).

I purchased this Yugo SKS knowing full well what I was getting into. This is a curio project for someone looking to restore something vintage into a polished rifle. I should note, this rifle comes thoroughly covered in cosmoline, so much so, that everything is very well preserved. Every nook and cranny of the rifle I received was caked in the stuff. This is a good thing, because I don't want a beat up, neglected rifle requiring a lot of metal refinishing. So, when my rifle came in, the box was perfect. The rifle was perfectly preserved, but the stocks on these things will always need a lot of work. After a few hours of soaking everything metal in 100% mineral spirits, the cosmoline melted away revealing some great looking parts. As for the stock, I'm still in the process of allowing the polyurethane finish to cure. I also used a Bombay Mahogany stain for the stock and hand guard which make this rifle look new after sanding it down to bare wood. All in all, I give this rifle 4 stars for a great restoration project. There will be virtually no metal work involved, as the cosmoline has preserved every square millimeter of this rifle. I would also note the barrel looks beautiful after a solid cleaning. If you're looking for something you can just yank out of the box and take to the range, this rifle probably isn't a good choice for you. If you're someone like me that enjoys restoring a rifle to near factory new condition, then you'll be pleased by this purchase.
