Used S&W Police Model 10 38sp Round Butt [VPD104RB]

I have purchased both the round butt and square butt versions of this gun. It is a reliable firearm--I would recommend this (using the +P ammo for which it is rated) as a home-defense firearm for someone who doesn't go to the range regularly. Semiautomatics may hold more rounds, and the .357 may be more powerful, but this gun has no buttons or levers or slides that you can forget how to use, the recoil is manageable for the novice and expert alike, you never have to wonder whether the round chambered properly when you pulled back the slide, and with a light oiling every year or two it will last for generations. It may not be what the firearms enthusiast chooses to carry, but it is just what the "I want something that will work and that I can handle without hurting my wrists when I fire it" person would best use. It has a long enough barrel for accurate aim at self-defense distances. This revolver was the standard police issue for decades. Mine showed some minor wear on the finish near the muzzle, presumably from wear against a holster as one would expect from a firearm that a policeman carried for several years. Flawless function.
