Beretta 92A1 F Type 3 17rd Mags Night Sights

I received this pistol on 7/19/2017 and it was an absolutely no-hassle transaction with Buds. They even refunded me $43.00 through the Norton program when the price dropped after I put it on layaway. I've done more than a dozen firearms transactions with Buds and all have been great experiences. They do exactly what they say they will do.

In terms of the gun, even though my box was marked Beretta USA, I found a "Made In Italy" pistol inside. The pistol shipped with three 17 round magazines as promised, and was beautifully fit and finished. I've owned probably a half dozen Beretta 92's since the 80's, and this was as nice as any of them. The slide moved back and forth as if on roller bearings, and the SA and DA trigger pulls were notably better than I've experienced in the past. The other thing I noticed (and confirmed with an older 92FS) is that the trigger reach is slightly shorter on this new pistol, making it much more user friendly for people who don't have large hands. This M92A1 is the first 92 that really fits me.

But when I got the gun home and into a darkened room, I noticed that the front night sight did not illuminate, and also that the sights were Ameriglo, not Trijicons as the SKU for the pistol and the box markings indicated. When I called Beretta to question this, I was told that the sights were supposed to be Trijicons, but that in cases of short supply, they sometimes substituted Ameriglo sights. I was also told by the first customer service representative that I would have to deal directly with Ameriglo to have the front sight replaced. The reason I would be on my own in this way was not explained and I was not satisfied at all with the service received.

But I did contact Ameriglo and they were only too happy to replace the sights, if I sent the slide in at my expense. I got a return authorization and did just that. But I was still not satisfied with the service from Beretta, so I emailed them and told them so.

A member of Beretta Customer Service management contacted me and apologized. He also gave me an explanation of why they could not help me with the sights. It seems they are not licensed by the government to store the tritium vials that go in the sights, and only get just enough for a production run and install them immediately. He told me that the first representative should have explained this to me. But he went further. He asked for my home address, and in a few days I received a package containing a Beretta hat, and two free 17 round magazines for my pistol. I'd say this was going above and beyond what was required.

I'm now waiting for the return of the slide from Ameriglo, which they promised to turn around in five days. I'm not worried about how the gun shoots, because in handling and shooting dozens of Beretta 92s, I've never had one that was not reliable and accurate. i rate this pistol, and Beretta service very highly. The folks at Ameriglo were great as well. I can live with their sights, even though I would have really preferred Trijicons.
