Did the layaway plan paid it off in a couple weeks. Put the scope on and already knocked a cow elk down the same day we got it sighted in! Great rifle 7.62x39 ruger American.

built like a tank , very accurate, wish there was a aftermarket stock option, but isn’t for this rifle in 7.62x39

great rifle, the action was pretty stiff and difficult to cycle at first but somewhere around 50 rds it started to loosen up. After running 200 rounds through it, it's running nice and smooth. I mounted a scope and have it sighted in at 100yds, shots fit inside a 3 inch circle. Pairs nicely with the mini 30, it's nice that they share mags. I'm happy.

Really happy with my purchase. seems to shoot well and have no malfunctions. it does seem really cheaply made. the stock is NOT the greatest thing i have ever had in my hand. the barrel heats up way to fast. fit and function are ok. i would not recommend at this price. $500 is way to much for this rifle. there are no extras with this purchase. way overpriced.

Great Rifle for the money, Ruger makes a good product. This rifle would make a great youth deer rifle with its light recoil caliber, short barrel and light weight stock. I sighted it in and tried out 5 different steel cased rounds and it fed/fired them all with no issues. This rifle will have packing grease in it when you get it new in the box. I would recommend a flash hider as this gun gives off quite the muzzle blast because of the short barrel.

This is a great rifle. Finishing and build quality is very good. It has a great trigger similar to the American rimfire series. As far as synthetic stocks go, it is a seven out of 10. If you really want to get the full potential out of the 7.62 x 39 cartridge, you should get one of these. It is a relatively inexpensive cartridge even with today's prices. The plastic magazine is not great, it is some type of low impact plastic and will likely not last.

This is the second Ruger American I’ve purchased that had no front sight post, having a .22LR Predator and this 7.62x39mm Ranch. I’m generally a guy who wants a front sight but this Ruger American has proven itself to be a bell ringing tack driver. Threw on a Vortex 1-6 x 24 Strike Eagle and she is the sweetest bolt action I’ve owned. Had the luxury before of higher end bolt actions, but investing in the Ruger American lines will never disappoint

Great little ranch gun. super accurate to 100 yds. action is very smooth. the gun is light but still very rugged.

Compact, lightweight and very accurate. Will shoot 1 MOA at 100yards even with cheap Russian ammo. Great caliber for deer, hogs and coyotes. One of my favorite rifles.

Buds came through with quick delivery and let me tell you this is one slick rifle. I changed the bolt handle and put a primary arms 1-6 acss on it and picked up some 10 and 20 round mini 30 mags, it’s chambered in 7.62X39. It’s very quick handling and I’ve already harvested two deer with it using Tula 154 grain sp. The first one was over 150 yards out and the second inside 20 and drilled them both clean. It’s also a ton fun to range plink with.

I was happy with this purchase. Gun shoots well, sighted in easily. I shot several brands of ammo through it the first time out and all ammo grouped about the same. The bolt is stiff as everyone mentions in their reviews, we’ll see if it loosens up over time. This caliber does seem hard to find in the ranch rifle so if it’s available, I would grab it if you’re thinking on it.

Great gun for 100 yards or under but accuracy changes drastically over 100 yards.

I've had this rifle for 2 years with no issues, less than a 1,000 rounds shot. Other rifles have come and gone, but this one remains... it's a keeper. I matched mine with a Vortex on top and a "MINI 30" 20 rd mag. For or the muzzle brake, I chose one that sends the force forward, so it results in a pleasant to shoot and well-balanced rifle. It has everything you need to make the upgrades without any loss and many gains. Lightweight and short, it's a gem!

A great rifle at a great price! My complaints are the lack of open sights ( I added 4x Leopold) and cheap plastic stock with very few options to replace it. 7.62x39 bolt actions are fun and less expensive to feed then other centerfire rifles with plenty of power. My rifle likes the cheap Russian 122 gr FMJ ammo ( 5 shots just under 1 inch at 50yds).I tried 122, 123 , and 124 gr steel case ammo. As bullet weights went up so did my groups. Overall I give it 4 out of 5 stars.

Love Ruger and their products. I got this Ranch Rifle because I have a few Mini 30s, and this rifle uses the same mags. Saved me a fortune, and picked up a nice deer hunting rifle. Bolt operates well, and it is a very light/compact rifle. I definitely will be picking up a 2nd one as a truck gun.
