Taurus 1911-ALR 45ACP Rail Aluminum
by James C Date Added: Friday 21 November, 2008
Just picked up my new Taurus 1911 ALR. Took it to the range and fired 110 rounds without a glitch. Both full metal jacket and hollow point worked fine. As for the accuracy, as long as I did my part, it put every bullet through the same hole. One fine gun! I like the appearance with the grey aluminum frame and the black steel slid with the black grips. I was concerned about the safety not working correctly after reading some other PT 1911 reports, but it work as advertised. A solid lock when engaged and no indication that it will activate by itself when the gun is fired. I feel very safe carrying it with a round in the chamber and the safety engaged. The trigger has a crisp break at about five pounds pressure. This pistol is a true pleasure to fire. Very easy to place five rounds in the ten ring at 7 meters. I like the three dot sights, very easy to aquire and hold on target. At twenty-five meters there was a noticable drop from point of aim to impact, about a six inch drop. I first used the center of the chest as the aiming point and noted the impacts in the stomach area, so I moved my aiming point to the face and the impacts centered on the chest. I'm very pleased with this fine handgun. No problems right out of the box. Taurus has a winner!
