Just a very bad experience with this new Kahr P380 CA Edition. Went through 500 rounds, all types of ammo, failures to fire, ejection issues, failures to load, hard jams, slide wouldn't stay back, etc. Honestly, I'd say it worked perfectly only 50% of the time. 45 years gun experience with scores of gun types, never had this bad of a problem with any firearm. Currently, the firearm is with Kahr with a comprehensive report of every bullet fired and the malfunction type. It was my first Kahr product and regrettably my last. *CA edition: very poor written instructions on taking it down, and no videos of same.

Very compact and a great pocket gun. Pretty accurate for such a small handgun. As with all Kahrs it has the smoothest double action trigger I have ever experienced. After 50 rounds there were two times the slide didn't come fully back into battery. I have two other Kahrs and this is very typical behavior during their break-in period. Kahr is very up front about this and their manuals states, "The KAHR Pistol must run through an initial break-in period before achieving fully reliable feeding and functioning. The pistol should not be considered fully reliable until after it has fired 200 rounds." This has been the case with my two other Kahrs. After that break-in they have been extremely reliable and I fully expect this to be the case with the P380.

I was skeptical yet hopefully that this would meet all my needs without the multiple malfunctions that others have had. Took it to the range prepared to deal with some issues over the 200 round break in period…. Not one issue. Not one malfunction. I ran blazer round nose ammo and really like this gun. I would recommend this gun for concealed carry

Terrible experience with this pistol. Ruined me for life on Kahr brand. Don’t buy

I have owned my Kahr P380 for 3-years now. Overall, I really like the gun for what it is: a very small concealable carry pistol. It takes 150-200 rounds to break-in. During my first 200 rounds I have multiple failure to fire and jams. But I have shot hundreds of rounds through the gun since then and not had a single failure. I choose to buy the Loaded Chamber Indicator (LCI) model, but would not recommend that. The LCI pops up in the center of the top of the slide and partially blocks the front sight (poor design). As you would expect for such a small gun, it is very snappy.
Pros: Well made, deep carry, dependable (after the break-in)
Cons: Break-in REQUIRED before you use for conceal carry, LCI is poorly positioned, 7-rounds
All that being said, I would recommend this gun just not the load indicator model.

Love this little guy's light weight for pocket CCW carry. I've only put a box of 25 rounds thru for try out but it feels great in my hand. It's a keeper!

I recently received my Kahr P380 from Bud's and was immediately impressed with the fit and finish of this high quality pistol. It is the perfect size and weight for a "pocket pistol." This is my first handgun with such a short grip length and I was a little concerned. But I quickly got used to the two finger grip required with the 6-round, flush fitting magazine. The 7-round magazine provided the extra length necessary for a standard three finger grip but does not fit as well in the pocket. I always clean and lubricate any new firearm and manually work the action. With that done it was off to the range for the recommended 200-round break-in period. I started the break-in with a box of Federal ball ammo and 50-rounds fed flawlessly through the action. I was on a roll. I next tried Hornady's American Gunner XTP rounds and I encountered some feeding problems. The bullet tips were hanging up on the very steep feed ramp. I switched to Hornady's Critical Defense rounds and they fed flawlessly through the action. Go figure. Going back to ball ammo I finished off the remaining 200 rounds and I encountered no problems. Recoil was very light and made it easy to stay on target for follow up shots. This initial break-in was fired at targets at home defense ranges, 7-yards/21 feet and 10-yards/30 feet. While this is not a target pistol by any means the accuracy with tritium sights was well within the requirements of any home defense scenario. When I returned home from the range I thoroughly cleaned an lubricated the pistol and took a little extra time to polish the feed ramp. I look forward to the next range session and a retest of the XTP rounds. The pistol is widely known to be ammo sensitive and I'll be testing other rounds in the future. Until then, I'll stay with what has worked flawlessly. Overall, I am very pleased the pistol's performance and I would buy it again.

no chance to shoot yet, just got through state waiting period. Bud's did the usual great job and shipped the correct item at a great price. this Kahr is quite small, so need to practice with a modified grip. PM9 about the same, and I can be quite accurate with that

After 500 rounds of various quality ammunition through the pistol I’ve only had two magazines worth without some sort of malfunction. I am very disappointed. I understand there is supposed to be a two hundre round break in period but I’m well past that now and am experiencing multiple FTF and trigger reset failures every magazine. For this price point I am very disappointed. I would advise others to stay clear of this pistol.

To be fair, you need to know that I gave a minor tune-up to this gun before firing it for the first time. It might have been perfect right out of the box. On the first time to the range, 100 rounds of factory Ammo functioned flawlessly. With some old reloads (24 years), I got a couple failures to return to battery. This was more of a torture test, so its no surprise. Overall, I’m VERY pleased with the gun. The night sights are a cool bonus. Trigger pull is long, but not too heavy, just right for a little pocket pistol. The trigger is a little small for giant hands, but if it was bigger the P380 wouldn’t be a tiny gun. The gun is very comfortable to shoot, and tight groups are readily achievable. I’d buy the gun again.

When I received this new P380 it just wouldn't cycle ammo, even the more expensive XTP. It has a reputation for being a bit inflexible on ammo but this was nuts. I sent it back to Kahr for inspection and they said the frame was broken and had to be replaced. Say what?? Anyway, they did the repair which consisted of a new frame and a new serial number. Of course, this means that it became a new firearm and had to go back through an FFL (welcome to California). Still don't like the handgun that much, going up for sale. Not a good experience with Kahr all around. I recommend looking elsewhere for a fine backup, just my humble opinion and experience.

Just took delivery of this and got 270 rounds through it at the range for the reliability break-in and ammo compatibility test. I must say I'm very pleased with this gun. For its size, it's quite accurate at the 15 ft. that is needed to qualify. I'm guessing that is the match grade barrel. And the sights on a gun this size definitely help, and they are night sights too. Everything about this seems to be very high quality, and for self defense, you don't want to cut corners. While the price is higher than many competitors for this size of gun, they do provide a very nice product. It seemed to eat everything I fed it except the PDX1, which is odd since when at the Kahr website, that is the ammo they show pictured with it. This isn't a problem since it liked several other good defensive loads, so I do not anticipate any supply problems. Caution - Be certain to find the 'update' loose leaf instruction sheet on how to disassemble this gun for cleaning. The manual is a bit generic and does not actually address disassembly of this gun since this has a magazine disconnect to be California compliant and that significantly impacts the disassembly procedure. Thank you!!!!!
