This is a pretty good revolver. It is basically indestructable - like all Rugers, and has reasonably good fit and finish. I also have the S&W 38 Bodyguard which I like a little better and the S&W 442 both of which are not as rugged as the Ruger, in my opinion, but close to it and hadle better with full power, (not plus P) loads. It is so close that you would not trade one revolver for another. One thing good about the Ruger is that it REALLY smacks the primer. I loaded up some 38's with european made small rifle primers in light loads by mistake (I'm NOT recommending this!) and the Ruger fired 100 of them without a flinch. The Bodyguard fired none - It doesn't hit the primer very hard. The S&W 442 and S&W 36 would fire about 80% of them on the first try and all on the second try. But the Bodygurad runs fine with normal ammo. All in all a good gun and an excellent revolver for someone who needs a defensive gun but does not have a lot of firearms experience. It is so simple: - point gun, pull trigger, repeat as necessary.
