Remington 700 SPS TACT AAC-SD 308 Hogue Overmolded Ghillie Green
by Lincoln M Date Added: Wednesday 16 November, 2011
This rifle will shoot some great groups with a few changes. The action is not too smooth a first and just needs some breaking in/cleaning up. I had to smooth out a few areas on the feed rails to minimize scratches to the brass and make feeding smoother. A tactical bolt knob helped out mine further with some added leverage and made it easier to grip. A spring change on the X mark trigger brought trigger pull to 2.25lbs but an aftermarket trigger would result in a better break/consistency. The Hogue stock is just too soft and flexible for bipod or rest shooting. I upgraded mine to a B&C with great results without even bedding the action. Although the factory stock might be good for hunting with its ease of handling and lighter weight. I did have to bed the EGW scope rail to the receiver so it sat properly. A Miculek muzzle break cut down on the recoil significantly. Shooting off a rest using Federal Gold Medal Match 168gr I am able to shoot .3" three shot groups at 100yds so far. Some further testing/tuning may result in better results...
