Great gun. Very accurate out of the box. Loading gate is very stiff, will either break in with use, or will have to get swapped out. Other that that, cycled the action a few hundred times, and it is very smooth. The lever safety takes a bit of time to get used to...

I purchased many months ago, Buds service was excellent. The rifle was in perfect working condition, the rifle was the best looking 30-30 for the money I've ever seen.
I sold rifle due to it had too many safety features for me. Again no problems I'm just used my other lever guns and this one did not suit me I do miss her good looks.

This gun is pretty bad ass, kicks like a mule but is easy to fire. Mossberg makes fine firearms. Always wanted a level action 30-30 Winchester and this is a cool looking gun.

Excellent rifle. As expected, the action out of the box was a bit gritty, par for the course with this type of corrosion resistant coating applied to all moving parts. But not long after I sat down to watch TV with a small bottle of lube and some Flitz polish on a few strategic parts, working the action back and forth, and Shazam, a smooth operator! First trip to the range and after some bore break in I was shooting three rounds touching one another at 50 yrd open sights. That's awesome for a mass produced lever gun. Maybe I just got lucky but my gun has no bad habits. No failure to feed, eject, or fire. I fired three bullet profiles with 100% success. Hornady FTX bullets, Nosler Ballistic Silver tips, and Barnes TSX Hollow pointed solid copper. Next project is to mount a Leupold 2-7x33 on Weaver Grand Slam Tip Off rings and Warne M873/873M bases.

The rifle is great. Awesome finish, nice sights, balance is great. Loading gate is rather stiff, but should smooth out over time. Action is smooth. The only downside I encountered was Bud's. I have purchased several firearms from Bud's, and twice I have been asked for additional money AFTER I have received my paid In full invoice. Was told it was due to my state taxes changing and that rifle wouldn't ship until paid. Had they just given me a full refund like I asked, I would have been satisfied and I could have bought local, which I should have done to begin with. But the only refund they would offer was minus 20%. And trying to contact them by phone, just make a snack and sit down, because your gonna be waiting a few hours. The first time this happened I wrote it off as a one time thing, but twice establishes a pattern in the way they conduct business. Do yourself a favor and give a local shop a chance.

I recently purchased this gun as I wanted to semi-retire my 100+ year old Marlin 1893. I just did not have a lot of money to spend and decided this gun would be a good choice. I really like my Marlin's (different calibers) but since I had all the reloading dies and since the 30-30 is easy to load for I opted for the Mossberg. You have to work in a gun especially a lever gun and for that matter any gun that is not custom made with a price tag to match. What that means is, you just have to use it to loosen it up. Now since I reload, I make up dummy rounds to cycle through many times and take some #0000 steel wool and 2000 grit sandpaper and very small files (be careful!) to the feed ramp and further ream down any burrs etc. At first the gun was hard to load but after doing this technique it is much easier. Also, just using the lever repeatedly (without dry firing) and lubricating all the points of pivot that are in the manual helps to make the weapon a lot smoother. I first broke the weapon in the one round then clean for the first 10 rounds (as I do for all my guns) and then in multiples of three/clean till approximately 20. Then she is good to go. Now, one thing that is somewhat inconvenient in the Winchester design over the Marlin design is that you have to clean the barrel from the muzzle end instead of in the Marlin just loosening the lever and removing the bolt gives access to the chamber. That is not a deal breaker just use a plastic coated rod. How does it shoot? Right on target. I have not tested it beyond 25 yards but it shoots fine. Besides, this is gun for shooting not bench rest. It does put out a blast that a long barrel might not show as I used 5744, 748, Leverevolution and 167 MBC lead and 160 FTX. This gun is extremely handy and is nearly as light as my custom .300 BLK. All in all, if you want a gun that looks good, has fiber optic sights (in the sun they work awesome) and has a caliber that rivals the 7.62X39 go for it!

Quick initial review of the Marlin 464 brush gun in Marinecote finish. I ordered the gun with a bank transfer to save the credit card fee. Took about a week for the funds to clear and the gun to ship. Several more days it was delivered to my local FFL and unboxed. Overall impression of the gun's fit and finish is very good. The red and green sights would probably be great if my eyes were 40 years younger, but I have a hard time seeing the sights and target. We went to the range and did a little work. Initial shots at 100 yards not on the target. Moved to 50 yards and was low and right; brought sights up and quite a bit left to get near the bullseye. Did some load testing at 25 yards with the open sights and a lead sled rest; initial results are promising. I ordered some Weaver 403 mounts, rings, and a scope which will arrive today from Amazon and I'll mount tonight. Range again tomorrow I hope and we'll see what accuracy potential there is with a scope. I had no plans to scope this gun; I have several higher power rifles to use for what few hunts I have left in me. Mostly just wanted this little rifle to ride around in the Jeep or the ATV. But, I can't see without optic help anymore so that might help me be accurate enough to hit something. Anyhow, overall first impressions of the gun are good and I'll try to come back and update after some more range work.

This lever gun is awesome. Considering all the negative reviews I read, I was pretty wary of this rifle, but for the price I figured I'd take the risk. Plus it just looked nice. Well, I'm happy to say that I have not had any issues with this Mossberg. For a smaller carbine, it handles recoil real well. The fiber optic sights are really quite nice and I didn't have any issues with the marine coat gumming up the works. The action isn't the smoothest but after I piled it up and worked it a bit, it smoothed out fine for me. It's light, rugged and darn fun to shoot.

The rifle is superb! Fit and finish are top notch! Very accurate and easy handling. William's fiber optic sights are perfect! I would love a matching rifle in 45-70. Tang safety makes a huge difference. Buds timeliness in handling and shipping? Meh. 21 days from order to receipt.

This is a beautiful rifle! Mossberg did a fantastic job with the feel, very compact and lightweight. Great hi viz sights Almost like an extension to your arm. Fit and finish is done very well with nice overall quality. My only two complaints Are the lever/trigger safety, which in all honesty is not really that big of a deal with the pistol gripped model as you already are kind of squeezing the lever... And the magazine tube. The loading gate is SUBSTANTIALLY smoother and easier than that on a Marlin, but you really can't top it off easily, at least not until a good bit of break in( you load with the old tail of the round catching the gate, then push it through with the next). The rounds are pushed slightly behind the lip of the gate, so you are having to push the gate hard enough to physically push the round behind it forward. The gun does seem to require a break in period before the rounds reliably extract from the magazine tube into the action. Overall a nice rifle and worth it after you break it in.

Great price! Hard to find but found on Buds. Great size and feel to this rifle and it looks amazing for the price. The rifle is stiff and the action is too, this will smooth out over time. This is my first rifle I've owned , coming from London/UK and now live in TexasI had to get a Lever action! Previously shot rifles before and in the military, this feels very different, packs a punch but manageable, I am 6.1 and 180lbs though, maybe a lot for a smaller, less able person? Fibre optic sights are good but Im used to iron sights, I may switch them out in a year or so for that. Loading rounds is hard and tales time as its tight and new so give it time to loosen. Amazing deal and rifle! I would get this over a cheap, flimsy Marlin....

Buds is easy to deal with, and delivery to FFL only took about 4 days. This lever rifle has a little kick, but really does the job on putting whitetails down in there tracks. It is a great little trapper rifle very light, and the marine coat finish really holds up to the elements. Don't hesitate if your looking for a light weight very durable, compact rifle this is it. I couldn't find a better price any where. I shot groups at 75 yards within 1 inch, and the Williams glow sights are great for low light areas. I will be purchasing another rifle to keep as a backup for deer camp,Thanks Buds !!!!!!!!!!

Dealing with Bud's was great almost too easy (want to get more guns ) . The rifle came in no issues from shipping. I did notice the coating on the rifle did cause it to be a little rough in loadingunloading and just general usage but figure that will wear in some and I also oiled (CLP) the rifle real good and seemed to help. This is going to be a ranch truckmule gun so it will get dropped and rough use ... Seems really good rifle for the price

I put about 25 rounds through it so far and it is working perfectly there is a little bit of trigger wobble but that’s normal for Maasberg but I’m still very happy with the purchase

So far i have been pleased with the Davidsons exclusive Mossberg 464 rifle.I only have 20 rounds thru it to date but so far fit,finish and function have been perfect.Accuracy was good for such a handy short barreled carbine. The fiber optics sights are nice.

Nice rifle. The fiber optic sight are much easier to pick up than iron sights. Fit and finish are decent. The action smooths out if you work it a while. It's got a long levervthrow and is easy to short stroke but is 100% reliable if lever action is full. Accuracy about 2 inches at 50 yds without a scope. Bud's was great with fast shipping. Will definitely deal with Bud's again. - Very happy.
