I was delighted to buy a FN 509 model 66100220LE from Buds. I received the FN 509 three days after ordering it. The FN 509 is so new that my FFL had never seen one. He was very impressed. I am 77 years old and had no problems with any aspect of the weapon. I love the 4 inch barrel with a 17 round magazine. I have owned it for about ten days and have taken it to the range twice. The advertised trigger pull is 5.5 lbs to 7.5. I found my trigger on the heavy side My gauge measures out right at 8 lbs. I have seven 9mm handguns. They are all between 4.5 and 5.5 lb trigger pull. My first trip to the range took a little getting used to the trigger. The FN has a great break point and reset. That helped considerably in getting used to the weapon. After my two trips to the range add shooting 400 rounds, I no longer have a problem with the trigger pull. The Stippling is very good on the handgun. It came with three backstraps. One was basically flat and was a small grip, the curved backstrap was a medium, and the third backstrap was a large curved backstrap with a Beavertail. I contacted Talon Grips. They have Talon Grips in stock for the small and medium backstraps, but had not heard about the Large Beavertail. They asked me to send a photo. I did and and they are contacting FN to get one to see about producing another Grip. I have very large hands and hope they succeed. My second range trip went much better. I was able to manage the recoil better and learn where to hold the sights. The owners manual has a good description on properly aligning the sights on your target. The three dots on my sights provide good visibility in low light conditions. I carry a flashlight to "Charge" the sights at my indoor range. Once charged the dots glow well for about 20-30 minutes. The three 17 round magazines are exceptionally well made of black steel with an orange follower. The FN 509 has an ambidextrous slide stop and magazine release. It has a loaded chamber indicator on the right side of the weapon. It also has front slide serrations that I like. It did not come with a manual safety.. The FN 509 Grip is outstanding and very comfortable. I Was pleased with the way I shot today. In my 400 rounds I have not had any problems with FTF, FTE, etc. I fired a variety of iammunition with zero problems. am glad I made the decision to buy it. I'm also pleased to have bought it from Buds. This is the second handgun I have bought from Buds in addition to other items like magazines, ammunition, etc. I have never has a problem with Buds and highly recommend them.
