Ruger 3200 LC9 7+1 9mm 3.12"
by Robert B Date Added: Sunday 19 February, 2012
This is a great weapon.

If you use one of Bud's "preferred ffl dealers", be sure to verify the shipping address. I used a "preferred dealer" who had moved to a new location; as such, it took nearly three weeks to receive the shipment. Other than this mix-up, the transaction was smooth.

One thing I would like to state first off is that the previous reviewers who complained about the "inoperative takedown door" were likely incorrect in their assessments. To open a "stiff" takedown door, insert the edge of a dime between the bottom of the slide and the top of the takedown door. Then, gently twist the dime in a counter-clockwise motion. The door should effortlessly drop down. Now, on to the specifics:

The LC9 would be easy for just about anyone to conceal if the correct holster selection was made. That said, I would not consider this to be a "pocket pistol." I am a pretty big guy (6' 1" 240 lbs) and I only have a few pairs of pants that fit this pistol. The weapon is extremely light and compact, which makes for easy, comfortable, all-day concealed carry.

Anyone who has ever purchased a new Ruger knows that they come caked with grease. After picking up the LC9 and performing a thorough cleaning, I fired 50 rounds of FMJ and had 8 misfires/failure to load a subsequent round. I performed a light cleaning and fired another 50 rounds with 2 ftf/ftl's. After performing a 3rd cleaning (this time, a thorough cleaning), I was able to put through 200 rounds of various brands of ammo without a single glitch. The moral of the story is that if you keep this weapon clean, it is as reliable as they come.

Performance wise, the LC9 is incredibly accurate out to 15 yards. The recoil is substantial but definitely manageable. The long, medium weight trigger pull was easy to get used to.

In my opinion, this is by far the best option out there unless you are looking for a true "pocket pistol." Personally, I would be afraid to trust my life to anything smaller than a 9 mm. The accurate, highly reliable, and easy to shoot LC9 is a fantastic weapon for anyone looking for a CCW.
