I bought this muzzle loader because of T/C reputation, lifetime warranty, design, its look and feel when I use it. The hammer pull is a little strong but that can be resolved. Love the finish and I know it will shoot fine.

Bud's had a great price on the TC Pro Hunter so I decided to retire my TC Firehawk and make the purchase. If you purchase this gun, be prepared to make some aftermarket changes. It cost me an additional $120 to get the gun in good working condition. A friend has an older version of the Prohunter and his came from the factory with a 3.5 lb trigger. I was disappointed in the "heaviness" of the trigger pull on my new gun and it measured at 9 lbs with a calibrated gage. I contacted TC and they informed me that the Prohunter trigger is not adjustable, but that I could return the gun under warranty since their spec on this trigger is 4.5 to 6.5 lbs. I decided NOT to send the gun back to TC since I could possibly get the gun back with a 6.5 lb trigger, which would meet TC's spec. I sent the gun off to a machine shop that specializes in TC trigger work and was happy to get it back at 3 lbs, which I requested. They also smoothed out the hammer draw which was also quite heavy. After installing a 40mm objective scope with medium-height rings, I noticed that I could not get sufficient contact on the hammer spur with my thumb, even with the adjustable swivel spur set to the max 45 degree adjustment. I purchased an aftermarket spur extension so I can safely cock the hammer. Overall, the Prohunter looks like a well built gun. I haven't shot it yet, but I am disappointed that TC did not perform a quality inspection of trigger pull before sending the gun out of the factory. They also need to design a better adjustable hammer spur or include an extension.
