This is my first AR-15, so before the purchase I did quite a bit of research....shot a few different guns....talked to several folks.....read several articles, etc. The truth is that there's a LOT of difference in various AR's.....it's almost like there's no two alike. I am 6'4" plus with a long reach such that most AR's seem quite "carbiny" ( my original word )......yes, the stocks are adjustable for length of pull, but the front end of most variants are on the shorter side. I wanted some real estate to stretch out and get comfortable with my forward arm.....hate that bunched up feeling, like you're holding a toy gun! You won't find any more real estate on a 16" barrel than this gun offers! I removed those shorty rail sections and sourced a MOE angled forgrip for the 6 o'clock position....love it! DPMS does offer this gun without the towering front ( A4 I think they call it ) sight, but I think I'll be happy with the durability offered by that front sight infrastructure, PLUS it offers a bit of "guard rail" to prevent sliding your hand in front of the muzzle by mistake. Yeah, laugh it up but you know it could happen with a shorter barrel and longer arm! Love the fact this gun CAME WITH BOTH SIGHTS! the envy of the place I'm telling you! My buds were slobbering over that monstrous forearm and the MOE stock that has storage cavities that I'm still finding! Probably put a couple hundred rounds through it at least with absolutely NO problems. There's two things I don't like about this gun. First thing is that the magazine they send out with this gun is pure CRAP! It is SO crappy that I didn't even put a single round in it! Lastly, the gun needs to be nice shade of Multicamo....perhaps even an offering of woodland or desert camo would be a nice option. I intend to fix that in the near future however. This is a gun that a tall man ( person ) will appreciate, but if you're on the average or small side stick to the carbines and mid-length models. Happy shooting to all!!

Dpms has done it again! Great rifle! Easiest rifle to shoot with open sights! Sight radius is amazing! Magpul accessories are a great adition to this brilliant platform! Gun cycles all ammo well including steel ammo! Weight shown is 8.5lb.....it feels like a 6lb gun thanks to the way it's setup....and I really doubt it weighs 8.5lb. All dpms guns I've purchased come in hardcase....this one comes in card board box. Better purchase shipping insurance. Gun is great and buds listing is accurate. Only complaint I have is they got my cashiers check on 18th and took until next month (the 4th) to get it. 2 week wait folks! So if you don't mind waiting buds is the way to go otherwise go somewhere else and pay more!

the good: The gun itself is excellent quality. A great gun for a good price. the trigger seems smoother than my other AR (diamondback). I love the addition of the Magpul stock, rear sight, and pistol grip. The recoil is lighter than any AR I've ever fired. My friend who owns a Tavor said he thinks it recoils less than his Tavor. I thought they were very close. the not so good: The magazine provided is a little iffy. I've never seen a follower snag so easily as this one did just by pressing down on the front or back of the follower. Given that, it still fed fine. I put 90 rounds through the mag and had no issues. Nevertheless I have 4 other perfectly good mags. I have a Nickel-boron BCG that I put in this AR and it had several failures to feed. I never had this issue with this BCG in my other AR. And lastly, 1 of the 3 gas rings on the stock BCG burned up after 120 rounds. I replaced the rings but haven't tried it since. My other AR had the same issue with the stock BCG after 120 rounds. I replaced the rings and have gone through 240 rounds with no issues so far. I've put over 500 rounds through the NB BCG in the diamondback AR and no issues with rings ever. So if that's any indication, it's probably just crappy rings from the factory can't hold up a couple of rapid fire bursts.
