I have owned this gun for a little over a year now, and felt compelled to write a review not only on this particular piece but also on Springfield and Buds. This is a great conceal gun, its a great night stand gun, its great for travel, and its great for both myself and my girlfriend, and we are both senior citizens. I like it from an accuracy stand point, and she likes it based on ease of use. She is smallish and can rack and chamber rounds with ease and confidence. It is an absolute pleasure to shoot. It has enough weight and balance along with a moderate trigger pull to be easy to shoot and stay on target. Bottom line is its a Springfield. Buds, as always was great to deal with. Happy shooting.

Have had this pistol for over a year and it is great! I have quite a few other pistols (kimber, glock) but this one has become my favorite. Great accuracy and dependability and cleaning is a snap. I was a army ranger and I can assure you this is the best pistol out there for the money.

I paid for gun online and picked it up in store 2 days later. It came with 2 magazines, holster,and magazine holster. I cleaned it and a few days later took it to range. It shot 125-150 rounds flawlessly. It felt good in my hands,trigger was nice, and I love the sights on it. It is the perfect conceal pistol, slender and easy to conceal. It is the perfect size to carry, yet still want to practice with on a regular basis. Easy to your hands and very manageable recoil. I am very happy with my purchase and am thinking about picking up the xds 45 4.0 version also!!

Used the 90 day layaway plan and the pistol arrived at my FFL dealer within 2 business days after finishing the final payment in perfect condition. Great service, will definitely be using Buds again for my next firearms purchase! As far as the firearm itself goes, I love the balance difference of the 4.0 barrel over the 3.3. It's accurate, slim, recoil isn't bad and it's very easy to carry.

I really enjoyed the first 75 rounds of Remington 124g ammo I put through it after receiving my xds 4.0 in 9mm. At 25y i maintained a 6 inch group from bench rest. At 7 yards I had three inch groups from standing. I noticed it shot low and to right. I love the sights. The 6 round clip still has great hold for me and the extended grip really allowed solid grip. The internals are well polished. I had no failures in the 75 rounds I shot so far. I enjoy this in 9mm as recoil is really tame allowing fast follow up. My only hesitation is the grip safety and trigger salty. I hope they last the test of time. I didn't have any problem with them getting in the way so far. The trigger is smooth with some creep. The fast crisp reset is really nice. I'd say this is a great ccw. The extra barrel length makes it easier to use well out to the 25y I tested it. No real complaints so far. I wish it was less expensive, but I wish that about a lot of things :).

This is a phenomenal addition to the XDS lineup.The additional length & weight (compared to the XDS 3.3") on the muzzle seems to have a little less recoil & a bit more stability as far as I can tell.This is the 4" BBL single stack that Glock forgot to make! As far as Bud's service is concerned:just as phemonenal. Had the gun at my designated FFL in 2 days.Seamless & trustworthy service.Will use them again & probably sooner than later!

Great little pistol, nice weight, much more accurate and softer shooting than the CM9 that I sold before buying this. Ran 300 rounds through it over two days, a mix of cheap target and various JHP ammo, and had no issues of any kind (as expected). The trigger is different than my XD40 and XDm9, a lot spongier and with more travel. It will take practice to adjust to it, but that's half the fun of buying a new gun anyway. Overall very happy, highly recommended.

Wow is all I can say . This is my 3rd Xds have the 45 & 9mm in 3.3 now the 9 in 4" getting good groups at 50 yards . Thanks Buds .

I've had this firearm for just about a month or two and I absolutely love it. So far I've put about 500 rounds through it and had one FTE (which happened the first time taking it out....to be expected when breaking in a new firearm). I find that the 7 rd flush mags don't fit my hand very well (and was quite uncomfortable) so i bought additional 9 rd mags, which feel great. The factory grip was a bit rough to the touch so I wrapped her up in some rubberized Talon grips and boy did that make a world of difference. Buds was great, quickly shipping the firearm to my FFL. My next purchase will be through Buds and will be another Springfield.

I am more than pleased with this purchase. The pistol is on the heavier side for a single stack, but I "feel" less recoil from this when it's fired than most all of the other guns that I've fired in this category. The feel for me is better also, the grip is just thick enough to give me very good control without being so wide that it feels like I'm holding a deck of cards. I do like the short trigger reset, but I'm not real happy with the trigger pull. I'm hoping that this will smooth out as I get more rounds through it, but if not I will be installing a PRP trigger kit. So far this has shot anything I've put through it including reloads without fail. I've read about people having issues with the gun going out of battery but I don't seem to have that problem, I can push the slide backwards almost a 1/2" before anything disengages. This is an absolutely solid gun that I have no problems with trusting as my EDC.

So to start off the transaction was smooth. I put the 20% down for the layaway 3 weeks ago and paid off the final 80% on Monday. It shipped Tuesday, arrived at my FFL on Thursday and I picked it up today, being Friday. Let me say this gun is slick! Being I'm a little guy (5' 6"), I switched to the size 1 grips, it comes with the larger, size 2 grips on it, to accommodate my smaller hands. It feels really nice in my hand, not too small, not too big, just right, easy to get a firm grip on. Came with a nice light coat of oil all over the slide and barrel, ready to shoot. Standard at the range I always shoot at 7 yards with my carry pistols. Used to shooting my XD-M I aimed it just like I would it at 7 yards, bulls-eye! Tight groupings, gun's very accurate. I am a big fan of the minimal trigger reset, makes for very fast and easy follow up shots. Factory sights came right on, just as they did on my XD-M. Compared to my old concealed gun, the XD-S is a little weighty(25 ounces empty). I like heavier guns though, they make for steadier hands and keep the felt recoil low. This gun seemed to have less kick that my full sized XD-M. It feels good to shoot, doesn't make your hands sore like my old light gun did. Put 500 rounds through it and wish I had brought more as I could've shot it all day. Being that this gun is so thin, IWB carry comes with minimal printing with the holster I had made for it. Keep in mind I'm not a big guy height-wise but I am broad which helps, but maybe not as much as a little more height might. Not exactly a fan of the mag extension but that's just my personal preference, glad I only ordered 1 extra vs 4 extra 7 round mags. I won't be carrying it with them or as spares, no point it training with them in my opinion. I'm sure my friends might get a kick out of using them, but it felt better in my hands without them than it did with them. If I could give this gun 6 out of 5 stars I would, it is truly exceptional. If you like the XD or XD-M platform then look no further, I guarantee you will love this gun. Out of all the single stack options available out there that I have tried, and mind you I have tried a wide variety, this was the only one I fell in love with. Glad I own one, I'd recommend it to my mother.

Took 3 days before it even left buds but its in their disclaimer before you purchase a gun so its ok. Shipping was fast once it left their building and the gun was in mint condition. I didn't even clean it before putting the cheapest most awful ammo I could find at Walmart which would be Wolf steel case ammo. Performed rather well but kicked a lot but that was expected. My only issue is the slide doesn't like back after the last round is kicked out which made me concerned but besides that its a great gun! The front sight is a red dot while the two rear sights are white which makes it super easy to find your target! I shopped around for months before buying this one. Very happy!
