This was my first AR, so I don't have a lot to compare it to. However, I have no complaints out of the box or after my first range trip. I put 60 rounds of American Eagle 5.56 through it with no performance troubles. Tightest group at 50 yds was just over 1 inch with the included iron sights. Groups expanded somewhat at 100 yd, but I suspect the gun is capable of tighter groups than the shooter in this case. I'm sure optics would also improve the results, though I have no gripes with the Ruger sights for what they are. The rifle sports all the basic requirements I was looking for in an AR: forward assist, dust cover, brass deflector, etc (though I think even most budget ARs are coming so equipped nowadays).
