I'm building my first AR-15

This is my first attempt at building a AR-15 and what to know if I need special parts for building one with a 10.5 inch upper receiver? I read some where that you need a special buffer tube and spring assemble for a pistol but that would stop me from having a stock on it and who makes a very good buffer tube assembly? I want to be able to shoot it after I'm done. It looks fairly easy to build one I already have the lower receiver except for buffer tiube assembly.. thank you, Shadow.
