  • Just purchased the PCR and really like it. Replaced base pad with new rubber. Bought new VZ grip, not sure I will install until I am comfortable to carry the gun. My guestion is; after watching several reviews many people replace guide rod with SS rod and also the front site with fiber optic! Are there any PCR owners that feel these upgrades are an improvement on functionality! Thanks. Appreciate your advice!

  • a lot of people change to ss guide rods on many different guns I fill that in most cases it is a needless expense with little or no performance gain. As my eyes have gotten older I like a fiber front sight but if you can see the stock front sight then its not a big issue. My advice is to shoot it as it is for a while then make your upgrades base on how the gun is for you not how it is for other people

  • Hi Jerr, The Stainless Steel guide rod is something I do to all my semi auto with plastic guide rods. No flex and will not fail in extreme cold or heat and will not become brittle over time. It improves the durability and is less failure prone. Fiber optic front sights are tons quicker to pick up to the eyes.

  • All the Stainless guide rod will do is make it heavier. The plastic will last at least a year with heavy use and will not wear the metal. Just change it out yearly. I shoot mine with the stock sights (shot a night match where we had the light of the moon only and only missed one shot). It's more about learning to shoot the gun than the type of sights you put on it.
