  • Ok gentlemen. Got a question, with a, 1,000 answers. Ok, i had a Rem Model 700 BDL chambered in .30-06. If memory serves correct, it's been 27 years since i owned and shot the gun. I remember the bolt, the bolt's action tolerances being close and smooth. To the point. For their class between the current B.A.'s being Rem 700 BDL, Ruger M77 Hawkeye, Win Model 70 and the Mauser M18.   • All are great rifles James but given just one, go with the Ruger M77.
    Their customer service is top notch.
    Plus, this rifle uses a mauser type action with a cold hammer forged barrel that gives you strength, longevity, and accuracy.

  • Mauser M18 would be my choice here. The three-lug bolt has a short lift, and the full-diameter body reduces slop while cycling the action. The trigger on the M18 is one of the best found on a budget hunting rifle, and it’s easy to adjust.
