Does this rifle have a working forward assist?

Yes. It does have a forward assist. It is also fully compatible with aftermarket forward assists such as Titanium, or different shaped ends etc.. Enjoy the rifle, Savage did good!

It does have a forward assist. My experience is this: sometimes they work and sometimes they don't.

Yes this firearm does have a forward assist. This is a great firearm for the price I would recommend it.
