Caleb, it is not using standard 38 special non +P loads instead of 38 Special +P loads since the weight is 15oz's.

Caleb, I would suggest against using +P rounds if you are concerned about recoil. There are plenty of .38 Special loads available for recoil sensitive shooters. I suggest trying Hornady's new Critical Defense Lite hornady.com/ammunition/handgun/38-special-90-gr-ftx-critical-defense-lite#!/
