  • Michael, yes Sir. The same happens with shooting any shorter round in any firearm. Example, 38 Special in a 357 Magnum. The carbon buildup develops where the longer case would cover, called a carbon ring and makes chambering the longer 454Casull or 357 Magnum more difficult. That buildup happens exactly where the difference between the longer case and shorter case is and is pushed into the chamber when firing. The 454 Casull/longer case covers this distance and sits flush to the chamber. Cleaning is the only recourse when switching between shorter and longer cartridges.
