You betcha it can! Note the heavy lug barrel and unfluted cylinder …. it's built for heavy loads and really if it's a .44 Magnum load it's a pretty heavy load no matter who makes it. A great gun for handgun hunting …. I hunt whitetails with a SW 629, .44 mag.
