Paul, this is a basic scope but will handle the recoil of a 50Cal Muzzleloader. That said, I would go for just a tad bit better edge to edge clarity and light gathering for a brighter image view in a scope with the Barska Hunter : budsgunshop.com/product_info.php/products_id/60751/barska+huntmaster+riflescope+3-9x50mm+wide+angle

Looks like Trin already answered I was gonna say I have no experience with any muzzle loaders and reccomend you contact the manufacturer to ask them if its rated for that. Trim seems to be a pretty knowledgeable and honest person from what I've seen in the buds community id take their word on it.

Yes, this scope would be able to handle the recoil of an in-line 50 cal. muzzleloader. Simmons 8 Point is a very durable scope and I have a friend who also uses it on his 50 cal. muzzleloader. I hope this helps.
