  • The barrel is stamped 223 which is a lower pressure round then the similar sized 556, you can shoot 223 out of a 556 but shouldn't shoot 556 out of a 223 the increased pressure can cause damage to the gun, or even injure the shooter.
    There is a wide variety of 223 ammo out there for different purposes though, just run a Google search "best 223 ammo for-----" hunting, home defense, range shooting, varmints etc.
