Winchester SX4 Semi-Automatic 12 GA ga 28 3.5 Stock Mossy Oa - Mossy Oak, 28" Barrel, 4+1 Rounds, 3.5" Chamber

I've used my SX4 only on ducks and geese. It seems to hold it's pattern at pretty good distance, maybe 70 yds. It cycles good, has a pretty good kick with 3.5" shells but I guess I knew it would. I struggle at times to load 3.5" shell though a little stubborn getting them started in the magazine. Overall I'd say 4 stars out of 5. If I restricted myself to 3" shells I'd give it 5 stars.

Got this gift as a surprise for my husbands 25th birthday he has been wanting the sx3 well I ended up getting the sx4 not knowing really what i was doing he got this and was in complete shock he didn't even know the sx4 was even out yet we have still not seen on in stock since i purchased this through the 90 day layaway so that my husband wouldn't notice on our bank statements an it was perfect shipped extremely fast i was very very nervous as to ordering such an expensive gun online (first timer) but man was it worth it i have already made my second order from buds an will never buy anywhere else this is the best company ever my husband was so so excited an loved his gift i strongly recommend this company

The SX4 has nice balance and is a very good shooter. Even 3 1/2" BB loads produce only moderate recoil...more of a push than a sharp impact to the shoulder. No failures cycling the gun with a wide variety of ammo between #6 up to BB. The only ammo it didn't like was #7 1/2 and #8 7/8 oz. target loads, so I guess I won't be taking it to the sporting clays range. I bought it for a backup waterfowl gun and am not disappointed - really a nice gun at this price point.

This was the first autoloadimg shotgun I've ever purchased and so far I am thoroughly impressed with its performance. It handled the lightest skeet loads straight out of the box with zero malfunctions. 3 and 3.5" shells don't seem to have much more recoil than a 2 3/4". The thing that impressed me most was when I took this gun to Missouri last weekend for the spring conservation order on snow geese. It was down in the sand and mud several times during a sneak, and it and the benelli SBEII were the only two guns who never had a misfire. When I got home to clean it every nook and cranny of the gun had sand and dirt in it so I'm very impressed. For the price this is a great gun.

I purchased this gun without ever holding one. I have to say I was concerned that I would not like it, only holding a SX3 previously. I cannot be happier with this gun. It feels better to me than the SX3 and the controls are extremely easy to use with gloved hands. The gun shoulders without thinking about it and the balance is perfect! I cannot say enough good things about this gun. My first weekend with it I shot a swan, ducks, and geese. I even ended up stepping in a hole in the swamp and submerging the gun. I just shoot it off and kept going the rest of the day without missing a beat. I shot 3" and 3 1/2" shells and the recoil is next to nothing with the 3" and minimal with the 3 1/2".

I recently returned from a waterfowl hunt in Arkansas, and although I wasn't in need of a new shotgun, I went to the gun counter in Cabela's to handle some of the waterfowling shotguns. I have a Browning Maxus, and have always liked Browning products, but I always like to do my research on a new purchase, so I decided to see what was on the market. I shouldered ever single gun they had, and even though I was not considering a Winchester, I wanted to give each gun a fair shake so I took a look at the SX3 as the SX4 was set to debut in January's 2017 SHOT Show and would not be on anyone's shelf just yet. I really liked the feel and functions of the SX3, and when I took it apart, I found it to be a nearly identical clone of my Maxus, which I love. I knew Browning had purchased Winchester some time ago, so I knew it would have similarities, but had no idea exactly how close they were going to be. So I went home and got on Winchester's web-site and was pleased to see the SX4 was coming out soon, and I really liked the slightly upgraded features compared to the SX3. They oversized the safety and put a textured grid pattern on the face of the safety to make it non-slip. It operates very easily and smooth. The oversized cocking handle was a big plus making it very easy to cock the action. They also oversized the button to close the action which is really nice and easy to find, even with gloves on. The camo job was impeccable, and although the pattern really isn't a deal breaker, the Mossy Oak Shadow Grass will be perfect for the places I like to waterfowl hunt. The pistol grip is nice and slender, and since I have fairly small hands, it was a welcome feature as I was able to get a very firm and safe grip on the gun. The gun is light at right at 7 pounds, and swings very nicely. I'm not crazy about fiber optics beads, but it has a nice sturdy red fiber optic bead that should please most folks. The butt bpad is very adequate, but I will replace the factory one with a Kick-Eez pad as I really like these pads, especially for a 3.5" gun. Kick-Eez really tames those heavy loads and makes the gun a joy to shoot, not a pain. The gun comes with spacers for proper LOP fit, which will help the gun to fit most anyone. Now a review of features is nice, but really does not mean much if you have not put the gun to the test. I took the gun out for a shooting session with my kids and a good friend, and we shot 4 cases of clays. I never once had a hiccup of any kind. The gun shouldered and shot very well, and seemed extremely quick as far as the action. I was busting clays right off the bat, and found the gun easy to handle and re-load. I really like the safety as I could grip the pistol grip of the gun, rock my trigger finger towards the safety and "roll" it to fire position with the gun on the way to my shoulder. I really like that. The trigger guard is not quit as big as my Maxus, but plenty big enough I feel. I also like the fact that you can get Browning Invector chokes easily, and that is what the gun takes so I had picked up a Carlson's waterfowling 3 pack that I like so well, and had them ready to go with this gun. There is one feature I need to mention, and that is more the lack thereof, but this gun does not have a mag cut-off feature. I personally never use that feature and had actually removed it from the Maxus so I would not flip or snag it on clothing etc leaving me with a single shot gun. If this gun had the quick load feature like on the Maxus, it would be one of the best guns on the market to me. But that is not a deal breaker by any means, it's just cool feature this gun does not have. Otherwise I think this gun is about perfect! So with a great price point, and simple and proven action, a superbly crafted firearm, and a proven name in the field, it is hard to go wrong with this gun. I liked it so much, I ordered a second one, if that says anything. Buy this gun, I don't think you will regret it!
