poor quality, poor fit and finish. not a good option if you're looking for a good revolver. sent it back to charter arms for problem with the crane/forcing cone.

This is an ideal truck gun, in my opinion. The corrosion resistance of black nitride is a plus. 5 rds of 44 caliber whoopass, INSTANTLY available, residing in my console, is very reassuring. I have carried it, occasionally, OWB, very comfortably, but prefer 13+ rounds of 9mm or 40 caliber for such purposes. Charter Arms Bulldogs are solid all steel revolvers that perform their purpose well. BTW I own 5 Charter Arms and enjoy them all. They are meant to be working guns, protect their owners, not sit in a gun safe.

Revolvers are generally expensive, this one is not. However, it is a dependable unit and I have shot several hundred rounds through mine. I can say unequivocally that it will go bang and it is accurate. Also, don’t wear it out with P. Initially, my trigger was gritty and stacked heavily. The frame was generally smooth and well blackened, however, there were some rougher transition areas. The channel for the hammer had very sharp edges and the hammer spur had a sharp leading edge.I tried the wolfsprings reduced hammer spring and changed back after unpredictable light primer strikes. I dry fired tons, flushed and cleaned. Gritty feeling improved and then I shimmed the hammer after using a feeler gauge. With lots of practice, lots of dry firing, a good cleaning, and a drop of high visibility paint on the front sight I trust it. While she is not a fine looker, her caliber speaks for itself. I can be very accurate with it, even at 25 yards using the very light single action. Don’t forget these Connecticut made revolvers!

At this price point I was very pleasantly surprised at how good the trigger pull is in both SA and DA. The .44 special is a great cartridge. I really like the Blazer 200gr. GDHP ammo. This makes a very good carry gun both for street carry and as a woods gun. Fit isn't as good as a S&W, but finish is good and action smooth. If S&W made one of these I would probably have bought it, but you can't go wrong with a Charter Arms revolver. I liked it so much I bought a second in SS with laser grips. While I haven't had a need for it, I understand their customer service to be top notch. I highly recommend this revolver and anxiously await the upcoming introduction of their .45 Colt version.

Guys, this is a fine little piece of work! Disregard any of the "midlife crisis" negative reports about Charter Arms you may have seen from years back. This is an excellent example of a good working gun. Fit and finish are just fine for this type of gun. The black nitride looks great. As for function, no complaints at all. Trigger pull is excellent, both SA and DA. SA is light and snaps off cleanly. DA pull is smooth, non-gritty, and quite light feeling for DA. Cylinder lockup is good, having only the slightest wiggle under pressure. This thing is surprisingly light weight and compact in spite of the .44 Spl. caliber, and is very easy to carry concealed. Factory grips are slim and provide a solid hold. Only improvement I made was to paint the front sight ramp white with appliance toucu-up epoxy paint. Recoil is snappy but easily controllable for follow-up shots. I decided to use factory ammo for SD carry, and went with the excellent .44 Spl. load from Grizzly Cartridge that uses a 265gr. wide flat nose hard-cast lead boolit that runs 950 fps. Heavier and faster than a .45 ACP...what's not to like! Speed strips for realoads, and this is a great, easily concealed fight stopper. Me very happy!
