CZ USA 527 Carbine .223 Remington Bolt Action Rifle - Blue/Black, 18.5" Barrel, 5 Rounds, Synthetic, Black Stock

The CZ 527 Carbine is a great little rifle. Accurate, lightweight, and comfortable while tucked into the shoulder. The bolt rests snugly in the receiver, but the action is smooth and swift. I purchased the Synthetic version in .223 caliber for my son as his first rifle. I appreciate the fact that the CZ 527 Carbine comes equipped with iron sights. Many other similar bolt action rifles I researched do not. I believe it's important to learn to shoot with iron sights, then begin using a scope, if you desire, after you're efficient without one. My son is having great fun with the CZ 527, while honing his skills as a marksman.
Speaking of iron sights on the CZ 527 Carbine, those have also provided the only "con" I could list about this rifle. We found that after firing a few magazines worth of rounds, the rear sight would loosen and fall off. The rear sight aperture is held in place by two screws (one one either side of the aperture) with pointed tips. When tightened, the pointed tip screws hold the rear sight aperature in place by pressure against a center post on the rear sight base. The screws also allow adjustment of the rear sight for windage. I ended up using Loctite 222 threadlocker on the the rear sight screws. That way the screws shouldn't loosen during firing, but would still allow for adjustment of the rear sight. So far that's solved the problem.
Overall, I would heartily recommend the CZ 527 Carbine as a great rifle for a youngster to learn to shoot with, as well as a fun plinker for a person of any age.

I love this rifle. Full disclosure I'm a CZ fan owning 3 other CZ rifles. After zero and abbreviated barrel break in this little gem was shooting .75 MOA at 100 yards with Winchester white box 55gr. FMJ. Some 55 gr. nosler BT reloads grouped better. I bought this from Bud's as a walking varmit rifle. I couldn't be more pleased with that decision.
