Really impressed with the gun. this is my first lever action. The blueing was very nicely done, wood fit is OK not perfect and the action was smoother than what I had read about.

Bought a Rossi R92 .44 magnum rifle. It's a beautiful copy of a winchester 1892 and has an octagon barrel like the old ones. I fell for this rifle the first time I saw it and then spent several months trying to find one so I could buy it. It's fun to shoot and is very accurate. I load all my own .44 ammo since I have a couple of .44 pistols. This rifle fits right in with them. The R92 rifle with the 24" octagon barrel is a great buy for anyone who wants an authentic looking lever gun, and this seems like the right place to get one.

I love this gun. Shoots well, sights are great, and it also looks great. Glad I went with Rossi. I have been handling firearms for over 50 years.

This is a very nice looking firearm. The blueing is nice and the wood looks good. The action is decent. I ran 50 rounds of PPU 240 grain through it and the sights were pretty bad off. The magazine tube somehow moved forward and is sticking out about an inch past the muzzle. I didn't even notice it until a couple days later. It still was feeding and functioning fine. I have decided to take it to my local gunsmith instead of sending it back to Rossi for repair. I am not trashing the rifle I still recommend it.

Anthony, Yes. An octagon is usually heavier than a round barrel, and that means it heats up slower. The extra metal also makes it stiffer, less prone to harmonics distortion. Plus the extra weight will help dampen recoil but the down fall is they're heavier and especially if you plan on hunting with it every ounce makes a difference. So slightly more accurate but doubt enough the average person can tell the difference and downfall is weight. So depends what you plan on using it for. For hunting I'd recommend a round barrel. For shooting paper/gongs I'd recommend octagon. Hope this helps.
