Is this a smooth bore shotgun I have not heard of this brand before

Steve, yes sir, this has a smooth bore barrel with a fixed cylinder choke like most shotguns made for defense. So you can safely fire slugs or bird/buck shot threw this. Because it's smooth bore you will get the best accuracy with rifled/foster slugs. The escort slugger came out in 2020 and seems to be one of the better budget minded shotguns available. Most reviews I've read people are happy with their purchase. Next best option would probably be the Maverick 88. Hope this helps.

Randy, I realized that, and didn't think it would fit without modification. That is why I suggested the dovetail adapter.

everyone that answered do you realize that the mount he is asking about is a saddle mount that is mounted by the pins that hold in the trigger group and while I dont know if it will fit I think it could be modified to fit by drilling holes to match the trigger group pins in the slugger

If the receiver is Drilled and tapped to accept a piccatinny rail then I don't see why it wouldn't work. In the meantime maybe contact Hatsun as James Suggested.

Will this gun cycle the shorty shotgun shells ok?

Ben, highly unlikely they will cycle properly. They cycle well in Mosserg 590 pump with the The OPSol Mini-Clip Adapter, unfortunately the adapter is only available for Mossbergs. Other than that, the mini shells are mostly effective in single shot shotguns.

Michael, unfortunately this has a fixed cylinder choke. So the choke is not removable/replaceable. You want a longer barrel, majority of the shorter 18.5 inch barrels are made for defense and have fixed chokes. Sorry but hope this helps.

Me and the other people answering questions got asked this question before and kept seeing mixed answers, some said 14.5 inches and some 15.5 inches. So for a definite answer I'd contact contact hatsan. There number is 1.877.278.4448. just give them the model number HESL12180001 and they'll be able to give you a definite answer. Know it's not adjustable though. Sorry can't give a definite answer but hope this helps.
