  Gerald, yes sir, since this has a 3" chamber, it can safely shoot both 2 1/2" and 3" shells.

  Jim, yes Sir. Shotguns work the same as .357 Magnums being able to fire the shorter .38 Special rounds. Slugs and shot are no issue in 3 inch are shorter shells. Cheers and stay safe!
