    For the .44 WCF; 44-40 you might want to slug your bore. This cartridge was designed in 1873 for black powder and cast bullets. The original groove diameter for this load was and is .427", many modern rifles for this round use the .429 groove diameter bore as for the .44spec./.44Rem Mag. If this turns out to be the case the modern or current Winchester load of .427 will be .002 loose in the bore and with the semi jacketed bullet will affect accuracy. It will also affect the sealing during bore travel. May sound nit picky but this has happened to me. Shot my first deer with .44 WCF in an early 92 Winchester saddle ring....Happy shooting!!!
