What a fantastic 1911. If you are new or seasoned shooter, this gun rocks for sure. ROCK island has gained a fantastic reputation as the Blue Collar guys/gals 1911. The duracoat finish on this has a shinning black to it. The trigger is nice and breaks cleanly with no slack. I shot 300 rds so far and not 1 hiccup. This is the work horse of 1911 because it just keeps going. Beauty wise it probably won't win the local high school kings and queens contest but definitely be the runner up. Buy it and enjoy it and not worry about getting scratched. This 1911 will do everything the other more pricy 1911 will do. The only difference is the price. At the end of the day it goes BANG! THAT'S ALL IT MATTERS!

Bought this from Bud's online and then went to store to pick it up only a few days later. Comes with a free range pass when you pick it up in store but I didn't stick around. Bud's was great, this was my first time purchasing and I got this, Glock 17, Weatherby .308, And Maverick Shotgun all with no problems and extremely fast. I'd seen some negative stuff online, but paying with credit and using them as my FFL it couldn't have gone smoother. Have fired about 200 Tula FMJ steel rounds and about 50 brass. Has performed with no problem. I also got a Chip McCormick magazine since the gun only comes with one and it performs well and locks back after last round. I only have two small complaints. 1.) My girlfriend keeps hogging it when we go outside. 2.) The recoil plug that has a painful hollow area you have to press down to rotate the barrel bushing. It can be replaced for 7-10$ on Ebay, but I'm not sure why they didn't put something in that cavity to make field stripping easier on the thumb.

This is really a nicely built handgun. The Dura-Coat finish it came with is far superior than the regular parkerized finish. Shoots like a champ and fires whatever brand I put in it. I put a fancier wood grip and some torx screws on it and it looks pretty fancy. It's a solid 1911 and not a bad choice if you like to collect different makes, but if I could choose just one 1911...this would not be it. I'll keep it and shoot it, I'm just sayin.....
