One of my favorite hand guns the finish and feel is awesome this gun is badass and not that bad of recoil even with the birdhead grip the weight of the gun helps with that! Feel like a cowboy!!

I have had this for a few years now and love it. Definitely unique. The finish of the gun is a very nice polished stainless and the cylinder lockup is pretty tight.

Out of the box the gun is rough hard to cock had to help the cylinder to turn, took it apart changed out the trigger spring to a lighter one,smoothed all moving parts and greased everything now its like glass ,much smoother ,Buds as always delivers quickly and love the 90 day layaway decided to order a second one Thanks Buds

Item arrived quickly, and in great condition. The gun functions well and is accurate. I will mostly be shooting lower power rounds through it. Small burrs were hanging off of the receiver on one side, and I smoothed them off myself. I also cleaned and oiled the entire gun before shooting it the first time. Which always helps. It is a very attractive firearm for sure!

Great service from Bud's and pistol came in fast and in great shape. I plan on using this in cowboy action shooting. It shot great and is very accurate for only a 3" barrel.

Ruger SS Vaquero, 3.75", 44 magnum: Beautiful revolver that shoots very well. Although the add describes it as 3", it is actually 3.75". The stainless steel has a very nice polished finish and Altamont grips look. As expected for a 44 mag, there is typical recoil. My concern was the Birds-Head grips combined with 240 gr. 44 magnums. I could tell little difference than shooting my 5.5" Blackhawk. After 30 rounds, I did have a sore knuckle but no broken skin. It's a pleasure shooting 44 specials though. The reason I purchased the short Vaquero was to use as a back-up for Hog hunting and I just liked the way it looks.

What a cool revolver. The Altamont grips are first class and fit the frame perfectly. The gun is flawless, no visible machining marks; decently polished. I paid with cash by e-check, so that delayed shipping for a week, not a big deal unless you’re in a hurry. Bud’s was good to deal with, except someone placed an internal “e-check hold” label right over the factory label destroying the serial and model number. I like to keep the gun cases with this information in the event that the gun is lost or stolen or other documentation is misplaced or destroyed, plus, some people put value on the original packaging at resale. Hey, Bud’s put your own labels elsewhere on the gun case! Otherwise, a good experience.

I took my Ruger New Vaquero out and ran some rounds thru it. Yes, it does kick with the 44Mag rounds but the birds-head grip when used with a good hand grip did not shift in my hand and I have a medium size hand. I like the short bbl, the grip, the stainless full size receiver and the way it is easily holstered and carried in my nylon holster. I plan to shoot reloads out of it using either 44 Rem cases or 44 Russian cases for light loads. It's a Ruger, so its dependable and sure working. Mine has the wider hammer spur than what other say they bought and it makes cocking cleaner.

Gonna have to one-star this revolver, but not Buds. Transaction went threw perfectly. Out of the 5 Ruger revolvers I've purchased in the last 10 years, 3 have had to go back to Ruger for repairs while still un-fired. Another was fixed by a local gunsmith, and another was fine right out of the box. This one arrived the worst: There are a couple of bubble-voids in the frame casting, very dull tooling causing galling and burrs throughout, grips are ill-fitting, forcing cone has a burr that literally cut my finger when examining it, loading gate is uneven. But the biggest problem is the breechface was not milled square. Cartridges when loaded, touch the breechface at the top, but there's about a .010" gap on the bottom. Total clearance is about .040" when loaded, so the headspace is certainly way off. Cylinder gap is uneven too: .008" at the top, and .012 at the bottom. Maybe the hole for the base pin was drilled off-center too? This revolver looks like an unfinished prototype reject. I'm used to having to deburr and buff Ruger revolvers, but this is unacceptable. It's going back to Ruger for a new frame. On a positive note, every Ruger I've sent back to the factory has been repaired to my satisfaction the first time. Hope this will be the same, as the design is very nice.

I love this Ruger , It would be a great side arm if Bear hunting. It's well made , tight and feels nice , trigger is clean and crisp. I shoot 44 spl. As they are not as heavy a recoil , the 44mag. Is a hearty round and this gun handles it well , I haven't tried a 300 grain shell. But 180 is a nice target round. I try to stay away from the cowboy type loads as they are dirty and they foul up the gun quickly. The finish is really buffed steel , a nice finish. The grips as also add a nice touch , I was going to get a 6 shot revolver but I'm glad I didn't.. This Ruger model is a great buy . I also had seen it selling for as much as 900.00 , The price here in Buds was under 650.00...
