CZ 512 CARBINE .22 LR SUPP READY 1/2X28 Black - 16.5" Barrel, 25 Rounds, Wood

I received my new CZ 512 22lr American Carbine a few days ago. No issues with Bud's as usual. I own 3 bolt action CZ rifles and all are great shooters. They all have excellent fit and finish and will probably last generations. This CZ 512 is the same. Nicely made with no blemishes. Cleaned the rifle first before going to the range. Upon inspection the gun was perfectly clean and does not appear to have been actually fired. CZ used to send a proof target with actual bullet holes in it. Not anymore. The bullet holes are images although the proof sheet states RWS 40 gram 22lr. My gun was manufactured in 2017 and proofed in October of 2017. This model 02267 and is not listed in the CZ 2018 catalog. This not the first time I have seen uncatalogued CZ's on the market. I have a 2016 452 American that was never cataloged in the USA. The rifle disassembles differently than most 22lr semi auto rifles I am familiar with. There is an Aluminum upper and a polymer lower. The rifle dissembles by removing one screw and one pin and then sliding apart. Early 512's used two springs in the action for both magnum and 22lr calibers. Beginning sometime after 2015 the 22lr is manufactured with one spring and a very different bolt than the original. I assume to reduce weight. They also reworked the trigger at that time. The manual makes no mention of this and is written as though they all have two springs. They also supply a special tool to align the two springs when reassembling that is not applicable, and not necessary when reassembling. My trigger pull is 3 lb. to 3 1/2 lbs. Little pre travel, a sharp snap and no over travel. Great for hunting, too heavy for high accuracy work. I can work on that. The stock is black stained beechwood with a mat finish. The finish is applied evenly and is attractive. You can see the grain through the stain. Different. I prefer wood to polymer. The best part. This rifle is accurate like all of my CZ's. Maybe not quite as accurate as my 452 American, but close. It is easily as accurate as my 10/22 with $400 invested. I shot 200 rounds today and had 3 failures to extract with SK Standard Plus, my go too accuracy ammo. I shot Aguila High Velocity, Blazer, SK Standard Plus and SK rifle Match. It was most accurate with the SK ammo but was excellent with the Blazer and Aguila High Velocity. The failures were early on and did no occur toward the end of the 200 rounds. Both were standard velocity. This gun loves high velocity ammo. I would recommend and buy again.
