One of the best turkey loads on the market. With the XR choke you get great patterns and knock down energy beyond 50 yards. I would recommend this product to any one looking for a great turkey thumping shot. I have used 6’s and 5’s. Both work and perform extremely well.

I recently decided to try a new choke in my Mossberg 835. I elected to go with a Carlson Long Beard XR, after reading the reviews, to see if I could get more distance than my Truglo turkey choke. I picked up the Long Beard XR shells #5 shot. I was pleased with how it patterned 30-40 yards, but was disappointed at 50 yards. Part of that disappointment was that my new Carlson choke did not pattern as well as my old trusty Truglo one. I even tried some remington nitro loads in a #4 shot which both chokes patterned better than the XR #5 shot. I plan pick up a box of XR #4 shot to see if that will work better.
