I've had this gun as a carry gun for about a year and a half know, I've put around 650 rounds through it, and i haven't had any problems at all with it. Does not Jam, but is rather heavy as its a few ounces more than a Glock 45. The gun is extremely accurate and worth the money you spend on it.

My American has been a great piece, but I haven't fired it as much as I'd like to, trying to conserve ammo. The serial number range of this one has a warning from Ruger to inspect for cracks when field stripping for cleaning. I'm inspecting as instructed, but no cracks yet. I trust Ruger's customer service and support to handle appropriately if and when needed.

I can't believe the quality of my new Ruger American 9mm. This fire arm is a duty oriented gun and a suitable weapon for any situation. Great trigger for a day at the range or as a duty weapon,.Berry happy with the gun, and ditto for the price..

Straight from the box to the range with carefully loaded mags and ran about 200 rounds without a single issue. Scope was pretty much spot on and bipod was an added bonus. Buy one already.

Really good pistol for the price. Ambidextrous controls are very practical. Multiple backstraps to chose from. Would prefer better sights.

The Ruger American 9mm pistol, although inexpensive, is a fine handgun. The recoil-reducing barrel cam, low center of gravity, and low bore axis contribute to the pistol's excellent handling characteristics. It is a pleasure to shoot. The interchangeable grips fasten easily and securely with no wiggle. The sight picture is clear for eyes that aren't so young anymore. Magazines are solid and extras are reasonably priced.

This was my very first gun!!! The shipping was a little longer then I expected but i also felt like a kid waiting for Christmas lol. This gun was everything I could have ever wanted in a gun. Though they don’t have a lot of accessories for the gun. I wouldn’t have chosen a different gun for my first. So please don’t sleep on this gun it is very powerful and extremely easy to break down!! This is my carry gun now. It lived up to the hype for me. Solid all around and dependable with no problems. During the break in period I only had one stovepipe but that was the ammo and not the gun.

Fantastic firearm. Great for the range. Just what I was looking for. Trigger is very smooth and consistent. First time Buds shopper. quick delivery and the local ffl that Buds uses by me was very good getting everything completed and the gun into my possession quickly. took to range next day and ran 100 rounds through it. I only had 1 fte but I believe it was the ammo. Will be shooting this a lot more when I can get range time. will be ordering more in the future.

I usually don't purchase new guns when they first come out, but something about the American Pistol made me break this personal policy and I'm glad. I like nearly everything about this pistol. It's very easy to shoot with very little recoil. Easy to clean with the removable chassis. I think it's a nice looking pistol for a reasonable price. My only complaint is that I wish the sr9 magazines would work in it. Buds was amazing, as usual. Super fast shipping and a great buying experience.

Ruger American Pistol 9mm 17 Shot Pro Model (no thumb safety) March 6, 2016 - Great service with Buds as always. Got it, cleaned & oiled it, just got done shooting 100 rds of Win 115 gr FMJ (white box). No problems what-so-ever with anything in any way and accuracy was very good. No sight adjustment was needed. Used one NRA 25 yd slow fire target at 25 yds and after those 100 rds the black was half gone, using one hand. I used to shoot bullseye (NRA Nat'l Match Courses) and that's how we had to shoot so whenever I bring that other hand up it doesn't feel right. Recoil was a small as can be expected, no problem at all. Grips are solid even though they're interchangeable. By solid I mean there's no play in them, they're not loose. I was concerned about that prior to buying. They're not always the easiest to swap, make sure you squeeze the sides together a little when sliding it down. I have big hands but I used the small grip because it has less curve than the other 2 and it shot great that way and felt fine. The sights are awesome, the mag release is just right, so is the slide stop. I haven't taken the chasis out yet, but will when I clean it here in a few minutes and am looking forward to that - will definitely be easier to clean. These are the best mag's I've ever seen and I've seen many. Usual Ruger quality, but also they have that nickel teflon coating that's something I've never seen before and it's a plus for sure. All edges are very well rounded / buffed. I would most definitely recommend this gun. Gotta' love Ruger! Strong, durable, reliable, plenty accurate, great customer service (I have a bunch of Rugers), and made in the States.
