This all-metal firearm closely resembles the standard military-issue model. The open-slide, short-recoil delayed locking-block system virtually eliminates jamming and it yields a faster cycle time. Black, nonglare Bruniton finish provides a wear-resistant coating. Double-action/single-action operation. Ambidextrous safety decocker. Reversible magazine release.

I ended up getting this to replace a Sig P320 I had to sell during tax season- the layaway option had no problems, though it takes quite some time to ship after sending the final payment via electronic check. As for the pistol itself, it arrived in the standard blue plastic case and paperboard sleeve that all Berettas I have owned came in- it's a bit disappointing that Beretta uses such a cheap case for their pistols but it serves its purpose. The pistol came well oiled and with 2 13rd magazines. It is an Italian made example and has CIP proof marks on the right side of the frame near the take-down button. I have owned a M9 and 92fs in the past, and this example's slide assembly seems identical in terms of fit and finish. However, I must admit to being disappointed with the finish of the frame compared to previous 92 pistols I've had- it appears to be just a plain black anodized, and reminds me a lot of the finish on the recent Stoeger Cougars (a former Beretta design now made by a owned company). There was already a small mark on the front of the trigger guard when I received it and I don't feel particularly confident about its long-term durability.
That aside, the factory mags have just enough of a grip extension to allow for a full hand on the grip without feeling crowded. I also acquired a full-size 17rd magazine and x-grip mag sleeve that allows for a full size grip with the compact slide, just like the discontinued Centurion variant.
Function ended up being excellent- I put several hundred rounds through it with no malfunctions of any kind. Even in the somewhat smaller and lighter package recoil is still negligible and easily managed. SA trigger action rates around 5 pounds, the DA pull however stinks and stacks quite badly, but this can be helped with different springs.
I have to take a star off for the quality of the finish on the frame, but this otherwise seems to be a high-quality pistol that is highly reliable, easy to get parts and accessories for, and looks just plain cool. With the option of using the compact magazines or the full size magazines with the x-grip adapter this pistol has some flexibility between being a CC piece carried IWB or carried more 'duty' style in a belt holster or shoulder rig.

I have several 92s,and always wanted a compact, so I couldn't resist this sale at Bud's.I just received it and haven't had a chance to get it to the range yet. The action cycles like a Swiss watch, as I have come to expect from a 92. That being said, the fit and finish was not what I have come to expect from Beretta. Where the proof marks were struck on the side of the frame, some of the finish has flaked off around the proof marks. There are also spots where the finish has come off on the top of the frame, as well as tool marks/missing finish under the bottom of the slide. I am certain that none of this will affect the gun's performance, it's just not what I expect to see from Beretta.

the pistol arrived relatively quickly. Price was a large consideration in my purchase and this pistol was priced super competitively; that made it an easy decision. The pistol handles very nicely without to much recoil, is easy to field strip, and feels great in my hand; it is SA/DA. Because this is a slightly smaller version of the classic FS 92 version, it is just slightly lighter. All in all, a great pistol at a great price.

This was my first purchase from Buds and I have to say A++.
The firearm was shipped with 2 days and at my FFL in a couple more.
Okay, the Beretta Compact was unobtainium a few months back and all the sudden, I see Buds has them at a totally low price, I JUMPED.

The pistol arrived in mint condition, all black and lubed up
I have to say, Buds did me right. Great purchase.

This is just the right gun for my needs (concealed carry). I used the full-size 92FS for years as an armed security officer, but when I retired, I found it really didn't meet the '"concealed" part of what I wanted. Since buying this gun from Bud's, I've made a few upgrades that have made it better in performance and appearance. Bud's website makes the entire process (selection, payment and delivery) simple to do by listing FFL dealers in your area and providing all the information you'll need to get your purchase quickly & safely. I will definitely use Bud's website for future purchases.

Hello Shooters,
I just received a Beretta 92FS Compact from Bud's and what a gun it is! As a relatively new shooter, I filled up the center of the target with this gun. It gives great stability in your hand and an excellent sight picture. I am making a couple of modifications because of my smaller hands which should make my experience with the Beretta even better. Hats off to Bud's Gun Shop once again for a seamless order and fast shipping to my FFL. I have already ordered and received another gun which you all will hear about soon.
Happy Shooting!

Beretta has produced a fine weapon in the 92L Compact in 9mm. Although the weapon is 7.75” long, not really a compact length compared to other compacts in the market, it is .75” shorter than it’s big brother, the 92FS full size. The manufacturing of this weapon is outstanding, which is what you expect from Beretta. The ergonomics of this pistol, coupled with the weight and balance of this weapon, make this one of the softest shooting 9mm’s. The accuracy is outstanding, and for a little more change I added Cool Hand G10 grips which provide a better purchase of this weapon.

A joy to shoot, highly recommend this Beretta to anyone who like the weight and size this platform offers. Beretta quality definitely on display in the 92L Compact!

Nice shooting, comfortable carrying, and good looking pistol. Arrived as advertised, and quickly. Have already put 450 rounds through it. Accurate, and easy to shoot. OEM 13 round mags do not lock back slide on empty. Mec-Gar mags I purchased, separately, do. So far, pistol has fed and fired Gold Dot 124+P, Critical Duty 124+P, WWB 115, Fiocchi FMJ 115, and Blazer Brass FMJ 124 without a hiccup (aside from slide not locking back on empty).

Had a great experience purchasing thru Buds! Got the 92FS Compact from my FFL and was kinda concerned when inspecting it for the first time because the slide seemed a lot harder to take off the lower than my full size 92FS INOX. Took it to the range yesterday and it worked great! Such a value for what Buds is selling it for! If you are on the fence about purchasing one of these, let me tell you to go ahead and make the purchase; ya won’t regret it!

Charles, The “L” and “M” both refer to design characteristics of the 92 series, but they refer to different aspects. L” = Long (or, if you want to be really correct and use the original Italian, “Lungo”) for “long slide travel”. The shorter, lighter slides on the Compact and Centurion models require longer slide travel to function optimally and to avoid battering the frames, so the frames have slightly different internal dimensions, particularly the rail lengths. ---- Type M = Type Monofilare (Italian for single-file/single-column). The Compacts with single-stack magazines are thus Type M. This is also how we get the somewhat rare “Centurion Type M”, a single-stack “Centurion” that seems to really be just a Compact L Type M with a Centurion-marked slide. (This is not an L model).

I received mine on 6 March 2019 and it does have the roll marks. It appears that these may have been part of a military/gov. contract that went bad, hence, they are now available to civilians. The roll marks were probably required from the military/gov. for liability issues.
