The Model R51 is an updated version of the original 1917 John Pedersen designed Remington Model 51.  Unlike the original however, the R51 is chambered in 9mm (the original was available in both 32 and 380ACP). This is an internal hammer semi-auto, and features a 3.4-inch barrel, a grip safety, drift-adjustable rear sights, a carry-melt finish, and a 7+1 capacity. Its "PPK-style" low bore axis is designed to generate less muzzle rise, and also lower perceived recoil. This pistol comes with two flush-mount magazines.

Took this to the range today. Ran 100 rounds thru it (3brands) of 124gr fmj. No malfunctions whatsoever. Hard to rack one in with a full mag. Easy with 6 in mag. With the slide stop engaged it loaded full magazines every time. This gen 2 model shoots very accurate. 10 yards, all in 3-4@ group. Just getting the crimson trace laser dialed in. Next week I’ll try 147gr and some hp stuff. I’m tickled pink over this so far. Buds had this pistol and the laser for $149.99 . Might use as my conceal carry. Weights 1/2 as much as my 1911.

I didn\\\\\\\'t really need another .9mm pistol, but the price at Bud\\\\\\\'s with a \\\\\\\"Laserguard\\\\\\\" laser at $250 was just too good to pass-up. First off, I know Remington has had \\\\\\\"Issues\\\\\\\" with first generation R51 pistols that hit the market in 2014, I trusted that the revamped Gen II version was fixed, so I ordered. \\r\\n\\r\\nWhen I first shot this pistol, I used cheap .9mm ball range ammo and was stunned to see my hits at just 15 yards were a good 12\\\\\\\" low! I even went to the internet to see if there was an adjustable rear sight available to get the shot groups up higher, but found nothing. Well, at this price point, and given that I can just adjust the laser to point of impact, I figured I\\\\\\\'d just have to ignore the sights and shoot by laser. Then I had a revelation, and tried the hotter .9mm defensive loads the gun is actually designed for (It is P rated). Bang, the gun shoots to point of aim with hot ammo, so that\\\\\\\'s what I will use. I know, it\\\\\\\'s hard to believe that muzzle velocity can make that much of a difference at 15 yards, but trust me it does with this pistol!\\r\\n\\r\\nThe pistol is ergonomically excellent! Also, it is the softest shooting .9mm I have ever used, especially given it is a \\\\\\\"compact\\\\\\\" PDW owing to the Remington\\\\\\\'s low bore axis. There is almost no discernable muzzle-flip and it actually shoots softer than my wife\\\\\\\'s S&W Shield \\\\\\\"EZ\\\\\\\" in .380 ACP.\\r\\n\\r\\nThe downside? This gun is ridiculously difficult to field-strip for cleaning. It took me 15 minutes to get the slide half off the lower receiver and I just finally gave-up and cleaned the gun the best I could while still assembled. I even went to U-tube and watched a \\\\\\\"gun expert\\\\\\\" fumble with the process, so I didn\\\\\\\'t really feel like such a knothead! \\r\\nHad it not been for the difficulty of field-stripping the gun it would have received all five stars. I\\\\\\\'d buy it again...\\r\\n

Not a very good gun many jams. The crimson trace laser is difficult to adjust. \\r\\n

Very nice little 9mm from Remington. Ran about a box of 115gr FMJ ammo through it without incident. Fits my hand well, and accuracy was just about what I would expect from a pistol of this construction. Have not installed the laser yet, but will probably get around to that in the next few days. Overall would give this one a 5 Star rating and, as usual the service from Bud\\\'s rates right up there at 5 stars as well.

Very nice gun! No failures whatsoever with 300 various rounds so far. Very nice to shoot and low recoil. May buy another.

So far the Remington R51 has been EXTREMELY unreliable. it fails to feed at least once with each magazine. It seems the rounds \\\\\\\"nose dive\\\\\\\" in the clip. I will try lubing the MAG and try again.

Very nice pistol. I will have to get used to the handle safety lever though but nice looking gun anyways.

the R51 has a very smooth action and trigger pull, for such a light weapon it had very little kick. It is priced right and has been very dependable.

I bought this gun as part of a special Bud\\\'s was running that included the Crimson Trace laser. I ran a little over 100 rounds of Federal brass ammo through the R51 and it performed flawlessly. It has a smooth trigger pull, and is comfortable in my hand. The magazine only holds 7 rounds, which makes for frequent reloading at the range, but 7 rounds is sufficient. The Crimson Trace lazer worked intermittently. At times it would not activate, then after firing it would come on again. The R51 is compact enough to be a good carry gun. The safety is in the grip so it will fire when gripped firmly. This takes some getting used to if you are accustomed to safeties that are on the side of the gun, but in a defense situation it makes it easy to fire quickly. I would recommend this gun based on performance and price.
