I saw the review by Hickok45 on this gun and said I got to have it. I am glad I did because it is a fantastic gun. Easy to load and fire with no FTF or FTE. I mounted a scope on it and sighted it in at 100 yards after only 4 rounds through it. Very easy to take apart for cleaning and put back together. I have now put 500 rounds through it with no problems.

Outstanding buying experience. I literally placed my order on a Thursday evening and received the delivery from FFL on that following Tuesday. During these uncertain times, you cannot beat that type of outstanding service. Can't wait to put some down the range with this beauty.

My recent purchase of the Ruger AR556 Rifle from Bud’s was fast and easy. The rifle was shipped quickly and I had it in five days. The AR556 came in perfect condition with not a mark on it. I took it to the range and ran 170 rounds through it without any malfunctions. The ammo was Frontier .223 55gr and R-P .223 55 gr. I had to adjust the front sight down with the included tool to bring my shots up by About 2” and I also adjusted the rear sight two clicks to the left. After that I was able to keep my shots within a 3” self made circle on a piece of plywood at approximately 35 yards. I hope to get out soon and use a bench rest to fine tune it. I’m leaving the rifle stock.

This rifle does what it was designed to do. You load it, chamber a round, pull the trigger and it goes BANG! The accuracy is good. I would buy it again.

Ugh... I%u2019m a bit upset. Not because I%u2019m having all kinds of problems with this gun. I%u2019m upset because I feel a need to put a negative review. I hate being one of %u201Cthose people.%u201D I%u2019ll save us all some time and just list the things wrong.

After 4 rounds metal shavings from the gas rings caused jams.

After total cleaning put 2 more rounds through it and jammed again. This time there was a finger nail sized metal shaving from the gas rings. One ring actually got pulled out and jammed completely. After replacing the ring and wiping everything inside with a scotch bright pad until it all moved the way it should. I took it back to the rang and now it%u2019s like I%u2019m not getting enough gas. Might be cheap ammo now but the bolt carrier really shouldn%u2019t be so hard from the factory that it breaks. Disappointed in Ruger.

Good gun. Bad factory trigger, but that is easily replaced. If I had to do over again, I would not get the fixed front sight. Live and learn...is still a great AR.

It's been a while since I made this purchase and I haven't shot the rifle very much, but it's worked exactly as it's supposed to. Ruger seems to always deliver a good product for the price. Buds came through with another smooth and easy transaction.

the gun is not MD compliant due to the 30 round magazine legally the way to buy a firearm for a person in another state is to have them open a Buds account then you purchase buds gift cards and give them the cards so they can buy the firearm. lately we have been told that Buds will ship a firearm with NO MAG if that is the only reason a gun is non compliant you will need to contact customer service (859) 368-0371 available 9AM to 9PM CST Monday through Friday or use the blue chat now button . we are not buds employees we are volunteers that answer questions

Steven, yes Sir. The barrel is stamped 5.56NATO so it will fire both 5.56 and the lower pressure .223 ammunition no issue.

L D, The AR-556 has a gas-impingement system, just like the original AR-15 rifle design and the Ruger’s SR series – use a gas piston and op-rod to unlock the bolt after firing. The SR is also much lighter making for quicker handling. Review details of the differences here : https://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/gun-review-ruger-ar-556/

Ruger runs a proprietary bolt carrier (not full auto) and does not sell them to consumers so there is no liability due to head space problems from what I've been told. You can replace it with a full auto bolt group though. Any will fit.
