I have had this rifle for a few years now and I can tell you this thing is a hunting machine! Last season I killed three deer with it and none of them took a step after being hit. Ranges were from 120-170 yards and the 185gr MSR loads performed perfectly.
This gun is accurate, powerful, and easy to maneuver with in a blind or in tight brush. Overall an excellent hunting weapon.

With good federal ammunition my gun cuts a ragged hole at 100 yards for 3 shot groups. And 338 federal has minimal recoil but punches a big hole in deer.

Bought this Hog Hunter to give the 338 Federal a try. For the price, it can't be beat. This ugly little rifle puts Federal factory ammo in 2" and smaller groups at 100 yards right out of the box. Handloads produce 1" and cloverleafs all day long. I highly recommend this rig and the 338 Federal.

Purchase the hog hunter on 5-5-16. Buds shipping was great. The 338 federal is a very accurate rifle. Even with reformed 308 brass it shoots clover leaf groups at 100 yards with 225gr bullets. If you are looking for a 338 caliber rifle without the big cost of the magnum ammo this could be your item. Keep up the deals Buds!!!! Hope to do business again.

This ain't your grandpa's old Savage. This is a modern, powerful shooting machine. The Mod. 11 Hog hunter was well thought out and the .338 Federal cartridge is powerful without beating you to death. Looking forward to my Spring bear hunt with this rifle.
