i have had 2 back surgries and throat cancer,how does the 338 compare to my rpr 308 ?

Paul, The felt recoil with this .338 Lapua will be noticeably more then your RPR .308.If shooting the .308 is a challenge with your physical maladies the .338 round will be biting off a bigger challenge.

I’ve shot this one at a Ruger even here in the California. Surprisingly, the recoil wasn’t that bad. It’s a well build firearm. It has a massive, and I mean, a massive muzzle brake on the tip. I’ve shot it without it on and I tell you, it makes a difference. If you can handle the .308 you should be able to handle this. You can definitely feel the power of this caliber. You’ll feel it in your chest, but nothing crazy. It’s felt more if you’re on the side of the firearm watching someone shoot it. That muzzle brakes just blows everything away. I don’t know the severity of your back surgeries and if you’re fully healed. I’d wait until you’re fully healed. Also, I don’t know the effects of throat cancer and recoil. Most importantly, STAY STRONG! I have family members who have stayed strong and survived forms of cancer. Family and friend support helps so much. I wish you the best. God bless you.

338 is a lot more powerful. I would not give medical advice. I would consult with your doctor. Sorry for your injuries.

Paul, recoil will be noticeably more than the .308 bit the heavy weight of the rifle and muzzle brake will help with overall felt recoil.

can you replace the hand grip with a standard AR grip? Like the sniper grips? thank you Tommy

Tommy, yes the standard AR Grip design will accept the "Sniper Grips" just fine Sir.

Tommy, Just need a long 3/16th hex key/wrench and any standard AR grip of your wishing. Can complete this upgrade without any additional tools. As you know there are a lot of options out there.

Bought this rifle when it came in stock. The pictures don’t do it justice. This thing is a beast. Paired it with a atlas bipod, and still browsing for a worthy scope. The quality is amazing, and this gun is rather large. You might need a bigger case, I did. Do yourself a favor and buy this thing.

Really hard to find somewhere to really open this thing up but D*** I absolutely love it. Only issue I had was the picatinny rail was mounted a little crooked which could’ve been a simple warranty claim but what the hell, took me two seconds to fix. One hell of a conversation piece I might add too lol.

Impressive firearm.. Very happy with it, great price from Buds. Definitely noticeable at the range in several ways. If they don’t see it, they’ll come searching for who brought a cannon to the range..! I’m dropping one star because for a ‘precision rifle’ Ruger skimped on some simple stuff that’s no way acceptable for what they say it is.. guess saving a buck is a buck but the barrel shroud wasn’t straight and neither was the massive muzzle brake. Nothing hard to fix, just don’t think I should have had to..

What an absolute beast of a rifle this thing is. The online blogs and videos don't do it justice. This thing is a UNIT. It is quite heavy and feels very well-made. Everything locks into place tightly including the folding stock, and nothing feels loose or rattles.
I was impressed with the factory packaging also. The box is huge and well designed to allow for easy access to everything included, without compromising on protecting the weapon.
I have not had the chance to fire it yet (hooray ammo shortage) but I cannot wait to see what this thing is capable of. It certainly looks intimidating when combined with a nice long range optic and mlok bipods. As always thanks to Bud's for the awesome and quick service. Best online firearm retailer there is.

Finally got out to shoot this monster!! What a great rifle. Hardly any recoil and it worked flawlessly. Pulled it out of the box,mounted my scope and went to the range. First shot in the red !!! Just a little fine tune and it will be ready.... Buying from Buds is always great!!!

Beautiful rifle. I've been waiting a long time to buy this rifle and finally decided it was time. Ruger does not disappoint in craftsmanship. Ordered some various grain ammunition ranging from 250-300 grain, to see what the rifle performs best with.
Looking forward to mounting the scope and taking this machine out to work with it.
