CZ Quail 20 Gauge Shotgun - 28" Barrel, 2 Rounds, 3" Chamber

I purchased this shotgun to teach my girlfriend and a young woman that's a friend of ours how to shoot skeet. I've owned a .223 CZ 527 American bolt-action rifle for many years so I am reasonably familiar with the quality standards of CZ's arms. Overall, I'm pleased with the CZ Quail shotgun. The wood to metal fit is excellent and the metal work is far to superior to other entry-level O/U shotguns. The stock is well proportioned, sanded silky smooth and shoulders quickly. The laser-cut checkering is reasonably well executed. To my surprise, the gun came with FIVE choke tubes; CYL, ICYL, MOD, IMOD and FULL. The buttstock and barrels came in protective cloth bags and the plastic hard case that CZ provides is of excellent quality. My only negative comments would be that the wood stock could have been of a somewhat better quality as it has no visible grain at all. I'm also not wild about the use of black chrome plating in place of a traditional blued finish on the metal. I would have preferred a smooth, more rounded recoil pad. Bud's $650 price for the Quail was better than any other dealer that I found. The 2023 $100 CZ shotgun rebate dropped the net price below that of other entry level O/U shotguns of much lesser quality, making it a "no brainer".

Have bought numerous guns from Bud's over the years and this transaction was the same as all of them - effortless. Couldn't ask for a smoother transaction or better price. I ordered and it was at my local gun shop ready for pickup in two days. This kind of service is why i keep coming back. As far at the gun itself - i purchased for my 8 yr old son who has just gotten into 4h sporting clays competitions. He had been borrowing a friends youth model CZ Redhead and liked it so I've been searching high and low for something similar in stock somewhere. Found this CZ quail model and decided to give it a try. LoP is just a touch long for him, but he handles the gun very well and absolutely loves it and will grow into it. Action was a bit stiff out the box but not bad at all. He was easily able to break it open and close again without any problems. A little peanut butter, not the kind you eat, and working it open and closed and its nice and easy now. I also like that it doesnt have the ejectors. For clays with the redhead he was borrowing he would break the gun open and the ejectors were so strong the shells were hitting him in the face or flying over his head. Without the ejectors, he simply makes his two shots, cracks it open, grabs the empties and throws them in the trash can at the shooting station. He likes it much better. The rib delete between the barrels makes the gun lighter and better suited for smaller youth. I was a bit concerned that it may have a bit more kick with the lighter weight but he said he felt it actually kicks less. He doesnt have a lot of meat on him but had no problem putting a box of shells through it at practice. Really impressed with these little CZs. Great guns.

Does not shoot at point of aim. Took it to the pawn shop. No more Turkish guns for me!,, !!!!
