Can I get a 22 mag cylinder for this gun or will it no work?

Mark, Ruger does not make a .22 mag cylinder for this gun, nor are there any plans in the works. The Single Six cylinders will fit within the frame wide window but the timing is off and they won't just drop in and work. So, if you want to shoot .22 mags, either buy the Ruger Single Six or Heritage Rough Rider combo.

sorry at this time ruger is not offering 22 mag cylinders for the wrangler series you can get 22lr/22WMR combo guns in the Ruger single six or from Heritage arms in the Rough Rider series

As of now Ruger does not make a 22 mag cylinder for this. I have heard rumors of people using Ruger single six 22 mag cylinders in these but they usually have issues since it's not meant for this revolver and I definitely wouldn't recommend it. I'm sure Ruger will eventually come out with a mag cylinder but there's none as of yet. So unfortunately all we can do is wait. Sorry but hope this helps.

Can you shoot short, long and long rifle? Can you shoot rat shot?

Yes, you can shoot short, long, long rifle and yes even the bb rat/snake shot. Since this is a revolver it won't have any issues using any of them. Hope this helps.

YES! Fellow IL resident here. It can be ship to your FFL. This revolver is legal in IL. The Ruger Wrangler has an aluminum frame that melts well above 800 degrees, and the info received directly from Ruger shows that they meet IL requirements. I hope this helps!

Only state not legal in is MN because of their idiotic 'melting point law' that was to discourage sales of 'Saturday Night Specials'. The frame of the Wrangler is a high quality aluminum alloy casting, but that is not good enough for MN. Get the gun, you will love it; have one myself. As with any gun, try different brands/types of ammo if you do hit where you think it should.

Solid little plinking gun had a slight blemish on the hammer and was dry as a bone out of the box. Oiled it up and went through 500 rounds so far without any issues or malfunctions
