The Springfield Armory Mil-Spec, like all Springfield 1911s, features a carbon steel frame and slide that is fully forged, rather than cast, for the utmost durability. The 5-inch Match Grade stainless steel barrel is also forged for lifetimes of use. The slide has slanted serrations and the mainspring housing is the original arched style found on GI issue 1911-A1s. The Mil-Spec 1911 also features fixed 3-dot sights, a lowered and flared ejection port, and a single-sided thumb safety. Each Mil-Spec comes with fully-checkered wood grips, unique to this Defenders Series model. This classic 1911 has a Parkerized finish to combat corrosion, and comes with one 7-round magazine.

Good pistol for the price point, and the fit and accuracy of this pistol is great. No loose/shaky parts you might find in similarly priced 1911\\\'s. Have only put 250 rounds through it with various 230gr FMJ ammo (S&B, winchester service, armscor and even a magazine of Tula Steel case) and not a single FTF/FTE. I think the magazine is kind of suspect- feels stiff and really hard to get the 7th round in, but I have a few colt government magazines that are great. The trigger is good, not great, but others have stated this breaks in nicely. Shot from a hand rest and the grouping was superb at 10 yards, this gun is more accurate than I am. The first 100 rounds or so the brass was flying straight backwards over my right shoulder, but this settled down the next 150 rounds. Some brass marks on the ejector port, but nothing I can\\\'t clean up. Very happy with this purchase as my first Springfield made 1911. As others noted, the pistol is much darker in color than what you see in the picture. Basically matte dark gray/black.

I am fairly new to 1911\\\'s but for whatever reason, I became interested and began looking around and spotted this great deal. I wanted a fairly basic example and my intention is to keep it pretty close to original. I am very happy with the gun itself. Everything is in good order; Tight slide to frame fit, bushing to slide fit, barrel to feed ramp position, parkerized finish, sights are perfectly regulated, etc.....So that\\\'s the gun. Now the performance; Again Great! I took it out to the range this morning. I had very limited time so I ran a total of 121 rnds through it. 14 of those reds were Winchester Personal Protection hollow points. It ran flawlessly through all 121 rnds. I was happy to see that the sights are perfectly regulated regarding point of aim relative to point of target impact. IT was dead-on at 30 feet and at 75 feet. I was able to place 14 rnds into a nice ragged hole at 30 feet and maintain a very nice group at 75 feet. I intend to get a basic trigger job. The trigger is a little heavy which is ok but it also has a little creep. That is a relatively inexpensive upgrade but the basics of this gun are outstanding!\r\nGreat shipping service from Bud\\\'s too. Thanks!

Stumbled onto the Springfield defenders series Mil-Spec on Bud\\\'s website. Could not believe the price, so I checked on the Springfield website and found the defenders series is a temporary price reduction program. I have owned at least a dozen 1911s over the years, but this is my first Springfield. It is not strictly M1911A1 because the barrel and bushing are stainless and the sights are 3-dot. But the mainspring housing is arched and there is no mainspring lock. The trigger is short and the beavertail is not extended. And it is very nicely parkerized. I have shot it twice now using 185 grain hp and hardball (100% function; I did clean it completely prior to shooting). It is heavy enough to absorb a lot of the 45acp kick, and the long barrel (5 inch) reduces muzzle rise. As for the sights, they are quick to acquire and good for short distances. At 25 yards, I shot more accurately with my RIA 9mm mil-spec with the vestigial sights (front painted yellow by me, however). Nevertheless, the fit and finish of the Springfield are topnotch. I left the excellent wood grips in place, because 2 other grips I have (G10 and rubber) are both too thin and allow my trigger finger to touch my thumb. The 3-dot sights would be difficult to change out, and they stick up enough to possibly interfere with holstering (only important if you plan to carry). If this is not an issue, then you should get this 1911 if you want any 1911 at all or if you want to find out what a 1911 is.

First time I purchased a Model 1911 other than a Colt. I took it to the range and found it to be well made as I feel Springfield would make a solid 1911,\r\nIt took some shooting to brake it in, otherwise it a great gun for the price. It\\\'s still not a Colt!

This 1911 is the BEST value on the market. First the major components are forged quality, very well fit, barrel lock up is extremely good for a production pistol. The quality of most of the remaining parts is good for MIM parts. The only parts I question is the hammer and strut. But for 500$ cant complain. The grips are nice as well though a bit narrow. I ran this pistol 500 rds, liked it so much I had my LGS order in another 1 and it is just as good. Very reliable, very accurate. With major parts built to last a life time. Fully upgradable.\r\n If your looking to get your hands on a good 1911 that will either be entry level or worth updating to top shelf pistol get 1.

The Springfield GI Defender series is a solid, bare bones, all business 1911. It does have their match grade barrel in stainless along with a stainless barrel bushing. Trigger is good for a stock 1911. Everything is tight and sounds solid when manipulating the slide. The safety is a bit stiff but that\\\\\\\'s not necessarily a bad thing if you plan to carry this. I\\\\\\\'ve only run 400 Federal (200) and Winchester (200) cheap fmj ammo and zero failures. It\\\\\\\'s as accurate as I can get and I\\\\\\\'m sure more so in better trained hands. I\\\\\\\'ve got zero complaints. I\\\\\\\'ll make a few personal upgrades to suit me but if you\\\\\\\'re looking for a solid government size GI model 1911, give this a real look. Well worth every penny.

Excellent gun out shot my cousins Colt with it. Already have 500rds through it with 0 malfunctions. Wish they would offer it in the commander size also. \r\n

This was my first purchase from Bud\\\'s and my first 1911 as well. Very pleased with both. Have not taken it to the range yet but did a thorough field strip. Very nice looking GI style 1911 with a few upgraded features over a true WWII A1 such as higher profile 3 dot sights, stainless barrel, flared/lowered ejection port, wood grips. A very good balance of features to be a comfortable shooter but still maintaining the essence of the GI look, which I really like. Only comes with 1 mag but for the price that is fair. They have set up a \\\"Defenders Community\\\" you can join to get discounts, so I plan on doing that and picking up a few extra mags. All in all, this pistol is a great way to get into the Springfield Armory brand. Would recommend.
