This would be my 5th (overall) 1911, and have had my eye on this. What's the opinion here?

Wayne, I've been looking into another 1911 and have checked these out also. From what I've read sds 1911s are quality, reliable and accurate pistols. I'd definitely buy one and might. Great 1911 for the price, smooth trigger, well machined, and very reliable so far. I believe the trigger is around 6lbs so not as great as a high-end gun but its is a good duty 1911. I hope this helps!

The 1911 Duty SS45 is an upgraded 1911 in 45ACP with many high end features. Comes with (1) 8rd magazine.

Will I be able to replace the grips with standard 1911 govt grips from Altamont?

Yes, this uses the standard 1911 grip pattern. So any standard 1911 grip will fit, like the govt grips from Altamont. Hope this helps.

My best guess since can't find an answer anywhere is it's made out of aluminum.

SDS is a American company But they are a Import company importing guns made in Turkey

Beautiful 1911. I have put over 600 rounds through this without a single malfunction. Used many different brands and quality rounds without issue. I am actually looking at another Tisas 1911 I liked this one so much. I replaced the grips and they fit perfect.

I only have 50 rounds thru this pistol, however I feel it is well built and the tolerances are spot on- not too tight and not to loose,
Accuracy is excellent, 50 rounds of ball to test function and took the center out of a target at 40 yards.
ruger 8 rd. magazine was a touch tight, but I believe it was the magazine not the pistol.
finish is nice and the sights needed no adjustment.
I put new grips on and the only other change I will be making is to replace the trigger --- to reduce take-up and overtravel
Very pleased with this 1911, it is the best value buy I have made in years.....
This is my 8th purchase with buds and as usual the service was exemplary, fast shipping and no hassles.

I was pleasantly surprised when I opened the box and saw the gun up close. It looked just like a high dollar 1911. The only thing that I did not like was the grips panels which I changed immediately with G10 panels. The gun itself functioned just like a high price 1911, except for the trigger which has a long pull. After firing 24 rounds (3 Magazines) without any failures to fire, eject, chamber, or lock the bolt open after the last round fired.I was really happy about this gun. I look forward to shooting this gun in the near future. I would have given this gun 5 *****, if it had not been for the grips panels and the trigger pull.

I really like this 1911 So far ive put about 250 rounds through it and its ran like a champ second magazine the slide failed to lock back but nothing since then. the trigger is pretty heavy for a 1911 but has little to no creep. trigger breaks at 8lbs. the gun itself is flipping heavy but that helps with the recoil. the grips are cheap and i am replacing those. love the gun and am super happy with the reliability. it is a dull ss so not shiny keep that in mind i didnt realize that till i got it. still looks great
