After firing only 8 rounds of .44 Special, the cylinder failed to lock up causing a misfire. The primer was struck nearly into the brass due to misalignment. Careful examination of the gun after this event revealed a random failure to lock up. Repeatedly cocking the hammer and checking the cylinder for rotation revealed a failure to lock up usually within EVERY 4-6 attempts. This could have been a disaster but fortunately I was not injured. This is a critical defect and a revolver that should never have left the manufacturer. I will contact Taurus about repairing/replacing this revolver but I do not intend to keep this revolver or any replacement for it. BUYERS BEWARE, THIS DAMN THING CAN HURT YOU!

Buds is great. This revolver is terrible. After about 15 shots with Winchester 44 magnum the hammer spring broke. Sent off to Taurus and it took them 3 months to get it back to me and the cylinder timing was off! Sent it away again, and another 4 months went by and it came back seemingly fine. Paid my local gunsmith to check it out and sold it as soon as he said it was functional. I\'ll never trust Taurus again, I implore you to spend the extra money for a reliable revolver from a more reputable manufacturer. I paid the price for buying a gun just because it looks cool.

Terrible weapon. Gun was out of time with cylinder at purchase shaving jacket material on shooting. Sent back to Taurus and returned in worse shape than I sent it. Never more!

Disappointed with this pistol due to poor build & finish quality. The hammer sticks after every third shot

I just received this gun last week. While firing the first cylinder full of cartridges, the gun locked up with the trigger in the "pulled" position. Could not move trigger, hammer, or open the cylinder. After jiggling a while I was able to get it open safely. Tried firing the gun some more. It operated fine in single action, but in double action the gun locked up after each firing. After firing, the trigger could not be pulled again, and either the cylinder had to be opened or the gun cocked to get it to operate. It functions fine when empty, but not after the impact of firing.

Taurus has agreed to repair it, but I bought this for a trip to Alaska and they will not do it in time. I got the item quickly from Bud's, but unlike other on-line gun retailers, you're on your own after the purchase. They will not do anything to help rectify the situation caused by the defective product.

Had to ship back to Taurus with a timing issue from day one. The gun shaved pieces of bullet and shot them back at you. Haven\'t shot it long enough to get a real review but being as I never took onewship since it was purchased it seems like a bad purchase.

The Taurus 44 Tracker is the second revolver I have purchased from Taurus through Buds. The first was a .357 7 Magnum 7 shot with a six inch barrel. I have had this weapon for a number of years and it has performed flawlessly. The Tracker on the other hand, had a problem right out of the box. The trigger pull was very hard. I could feel something dragging whenever I pulled the trigger on double action or cocked the hammer. The very next day, I sent it to Taurus for repair. Still waiting for them to complete the repair. I will try and update this review when I get the Tracker back and have had an opportunity to fire it.

I had a lock-up issue with mine as well, but I avoided and dangerous situations by first checking the firearm with training dummies before firing live ammo in it. Old habit, and I do it with every firearm I purchase, no matter the manufacturer or condition. Contacted Taurus, shipped it off and had in back within a couple of weeks. It's worked fine and dandy since. I practice in the backyard with rubber bullets fired by primer only and do a couple of hundred rounds a week...the issue has never reappeared, and it's worked like a champ. Mine's doing two inch groups at 25 yards and when I really drill myself down I can do 4 1/2 at 50 yards. Weighs less than my 1911, and coupled with my SimplyRugged holster and inside-out straps, I carry the Tracker more often. The only way I could be happier with this gun is if it had been perfect right out of the box...but that's the price you pay when you buy a mass produced firearm built in Brazil...had it happened with a $1400 Smith, that would be a different matter...

Well, I have fired this enough to verify the barrel wont come flying off, and with snap caps I have \"fired\" this about 800 times getting used to the trigger and no jam up of the internal psrts, then a few more rounds for good measure. All and all I would say I picked up a solid revolver. I have two other taurus stainless revolvers and somehow this one is not as shiny so I will polish it a little. The barrel to cylinder gap is the tightest I have ever seen on a revolver. My smith is not this tight so I guess this one should last a good while. Recoil on this gun is hefty, yet managable. I have shot the Ruger Super Redhawk before and the Redhawk handles recoil better, this one I have to take a break every 15 rounds. Going to try a hogue grip to see if that makes any different. The ports will keep the gun from flying into your face, but wear your eye protection as you will get some particles flying back at you. The gun sounds a little dirty when I pull the trigger so I will probably dissasemble and clean up all the internals when I get a moment. Trigger is smoother than most of my good quality semiautos, though if I compared it to a smith I may act like a snob and say its just ok. All and all, this is a nice gun; I still want the super redhawk but Taurus or Buds dropped the price on this one by over $100 and I just couldnt pass this one up. Im glad this one didnt dissapoint, though I have been pretty lucky when it comes to Taurus.

I am preparing for an archery elk hunt. I determined a .44 Magnum was the minimum caliber I could carry for true protection. But averaging 10 miles hiking per day the large frame revolvers were just to heavy. In contrast the titanium S&W is so light the recoil is difficult to manage. At just over two pounds and incorporating a muzzle break the Tracker is the perfect balance of weight and controllable recoil. At half the price of Ruger & S&W I was concerned the Taurus would be half the quality. But after a great deal of research I determined it was worth the risk. I could not be happier with the quality, fit & finish. The only thing I would change about this revolver is the grip...& that%u2019s exactly what I did...I added a Hogue grip which completes the package. For this reason only I am giving 4 stars instead of 5.

This is also the first purchase I have made from Bud%u2019s but I assure you it won%u2019t be my last! The price was $200 less than local retailers. I picked a local vendor from Bud%u2019s website to handle the transfer of ownership, the shipment was seamless, and a week later I was picking up my new revolver. And for an extra $21 Bud%u2019s included a life time guarantee! When I picked up the gun the local vendor shared they complete transactions from Bud%u2019s almost every day & they have never encountered an issue!

I highly recommend this revolver & making Bud%u2019s your vendor of choice.
