Finally received(accepted) my Ruger-57 last Saturday. My local FFL had been on vacation so there was a delay in actually getting to examine and accept. The 57 is very well designed and built, it is light weight. I love the sights! I love it so far! The only problem is, I cannot give any further review since I can not purchase the 5.7x28 ammo and try it out for the end result. My FFL has it backordered, Bud\'s is listing it out of stock, but I will keep trying to find it. I\'ll let you know more after taking it to the range.

It is a nice gun. It shoots smooth and nicely. I have big hands and found the grip someone uncomfortable. I prefer the one from the FN better in the way it fits on my hand. But it n overall it is an excellent gun for the price.

Can't say much yet about the new Ruger-57, because I can't find any ammunition. I was able to borrow one box from a friend (he only had two). It felt good in my hand, but was lighter than expected. I shot one magazine from a bench rest and did fairly well at 15 yards, but was no where near the center from the standing position. It well take a bit more practice.

Cannot find any ammo for the gun. Waited around 5 months for the firearm. Should have bought ammo while it was available but did not know when I was gonna get the firearm and if I was even going to ever get it. The firearm looks good, feels great holding it. If you have girl hands then the foregrip might bother your hands (its like sand paper). Nice features are the trigger system, the mag release is reversible, and the rail under the slide for attachments. All in all comes in a decent carry box, extra magazine, and a barrel lock.

Ordered in March, finally came in at Buds in August and shipped shortly thereafter. No issues. Price was cheapest at the time. Buds is reliable.

Overall, I like it. I’ve got an FN FiveseveN and a couple Ruger Americans so I had half an idea of what to expect. Pros. Comes in a nice box. One extra mag. I bought two more. No mag disconnect. Also got the plate and a Vortex red dot. High capacity that loads like an AR mag. No more swore thumb. Just snap them in. The mags are metal. Low recoil. Very lite. Very fun to shoot. The rail is long. The grip is fine for me but I have big hands. Cons. Hard not to shoot fast. It has an internal hammer that’s cocked so it’s firing as a single action. The trigger has too much take up for a single action. It’s about a quarter inch of take up or slop and then about another quarter inch of pull before it fires. So a good quarter inch to reset. Remember this is supposed to be a single action trigger. The round is basically .223 with a scaled down case. That’s a rifle round coming out of a slightly less than 5 inch barrel. So a beach ball sized fireball. The cartridge is a bit anemic and a pistol length barrel doesn’t help. I would see if you can find any ammo and check the price on it. It is crazy high and hard to find at the time of writing. It’s lite enough but for me it’s too big for concealed carry. Not a big fan that it looks so much like Ruger’s budget pistol. The quality is there but it just seems like it has a bit of a budget look to it and being so lite makes it seem that way too. The external safety – I don’t like them on any pistol. Bullet weight. Pick one. Once you sight it in for one weight then shoot the other weight you will be pretty far off. They scale down how much powder is behind the 27 grain round and others because of it penetrating some body armor. The mag release is a bit of a stretch to reach. A paddle mag release would have made more sense. I’d still rather have the button though. Ruger may want to come out with a carbine that 57 owners will feel like they need to buy to go with the pistol. But why wouldn’t you just shoot a .223 if buying a carbine? What is the advantage of a weaker, expensive round that is hard to find? Yes, more ammo is probably coming but in today’s climate – it’s going to be awhile. Longer than you think. It’s an expensive to shoot plinker for me. Recoil is similar to a 22 mag. I would pick the Ruger 57 over the FN FiveseveN because of metal mags, no mag disconnect and it’s easy it install a red dot. If I could only have one pistol it would not be anything is this caliber. Lastly, consider joining the NRA and help protect your 2nd amendment right. If we don’t all step up for this right – it may be taken away.

I have still to receive my order. I was sent an email that it was shipped, but have not received anything from the FFL. I was told that my information was sent to the FFL along with my order for notification. So far, nothing.

Worth the 4-month wait. Trigger takes a little getting used to--seems like a long pull--but definitely fun to shoot.
