ATI Bulldog 12ga Semi-auto Shotgun. 3 chokes and 1, 5 round magazine included along with tool kit and instruction manual.
I got this weapon as a home defense option, and extremely happy I did. I got the gun on Monday and knew i wouldn't get to the range until Thursday. I sat and watched reviews on YT while racking the bolt and breaking in the bolt release, mag release, and springs. The gun itself is right around 10lbs unloaded, mine is exactly 10lbs with red dot, AFG, flashlight, and sling. Sounds heavy? Wrong! It feels super solid but not cumbersome due to the design and the weight is held close to the shoulder, not out at the off hand forearm as with traditional shotguns.
The first thing I loaded into the gun while at the range was Federal Target loads and Winchester white box "Universal" game loads. The Bulldog ate them up and cycled like a champion! Not a single flaw or problem. I then loaded Fiocchi 00 buck, again flawless operation. I then put a mix of the three types of ammo. No jams or failure to feed or ejection troubles. It also has the most precise ejection pattern I have ever seen, almost stacking spent shells on top of each other. This shotgun just WORKS! At 15 yards i had 4-5in groups with 00 buck and at 25 yards I had 7-8inch groups with the same buckshot. 100% all on a man sized target. More than enough for home defense!
So what does it lack and what isn't great about it? The factory mag loads into the gun harder than the MKA1919 10 round steel mags. I like the size of the 5 round mag but 10 rnd just loads so much easier. I also loaded the 10 round mags and let them sit for 4 days to help break the springs in, extremely helpful and I highly recommend that you do this as spring pressures are heavy! The polymer used feels like steel, but i went through with a diamond file and got rid of any "mold slag" hanging off the gun. Took maybe 10 minutes and really smoothed the edges of the polymer. The charging handle works well but can be a pain in the fingers as it is edged...not sharp but has a 90 degree angle so it can dig into the bare fingers and has a hefty pull weight. The double detent on the charging handle is also annoying if you don't get an even pull on each side.
Overall this gun is a solid 9.8/10 for me. Don't be disillusioned into thinking it's not quality because of the price point. The quality is definitely there! The recoil is extremely light even with the 00 buck, so light I can fire the gun shouldered with 1 hand. I am typically an AR platform guy so the bullpup layout was completely new to me and there was a learning curve on the ergonomics but with practice it's not really an issue. I would trust my life with this weapon as a home defense tool. I fired 75 rounds and not a single hickup. Not one. Easily one of the most fun guns I own and it does have a lot of practicality with an 18.5 inch barrel and overall length of 30 inches. I cannot say enough good things about this shotgun, if you are on the fence about it just pull the trigger and get it!

A:Bull pups are not specifically banned in CA, this model however is not CA compliant as is a semi auto that has the ability to accept a detachable magazine, you'd need a bull pup that had a tube magazine, or a bull pump (pump action bull pup)See 1 more answer |
