Good entry level gun. The rifle shots accurately, but you need trigger time. The stock is very light and with the heavy barrel, it feels front heavy. This is manageable, just get practice. I found mine prefers loose powder. I still use the original breech plug, and it works fine.

Great rifle, easy to mount a scope and sight in was a breeze. I like the breach plug, comes out easy no tools. Overall fantastic rifle can't wait for hunting season.

Just what I needed for the price. I've shot it 9 times so far and it groups well. The single piece scope mounts are a nice inclusion. It's also nice that the barrel is already drilled and tapped for irons as well (just be sure to install the included fill screws to protect the threads). As with all black powder, be sure to thoroughly clean after every use (the manual has well written instructions on this). Happy with the product, and with Bud's as usual.

Very satisfied with the CVA Wolf. Gre quality and workmanship. Light and easy to handle in a tree stand. Topped with a Konus 2-7X32 and it has already proved itself.

This is a great muzzleloader. After a lot of research, I decided to go with a CVA SS Wolf to replace my Knight T-Bolt which had rusted and pitted terribly even after hours of cleaning and storage prep. This gun cleans up easily which was a must for me when deciding on a new muzzleloader. This gun is surprisingly accurate for a muzzleloader that is this light, with this short of a barrel, and at this price point! I have been shooting consistent 1" groups at 100 yards with this gun using 110gr of loose powder and 245 grain power belt bullets. In my opinion, I will be able to be more accurate when I get my hands on some white-hots powder pellets (recommended by the manufacturer). I will add that this gun did NOT shoot well at all with the triple 7 powder pellets (5-7" low at 100 yards versus loosed powder!) Overall I am very, very pleased with this rifle's performance and even more pleased with the price. I only use a muzzleloader 2 weeks out of the year here in Northwest NC and this gun is exactly what I was looking for! The shipping was very fast, the gun arrived 3 days after my my order to my doorstep which I thought was phenomenal! For those of you who are looking for a good quality muzzleloader without spending a fortune I would highly recommend the CVA Wolf!

I received my CVA Wolf rifle in 2 days. Awesome job Buds! I took the Wolf to my range for a sight in session, after installing a Burris 2-7x35 scope. I loaded 150 grains of Hodgdon 777 and a Powerbelt 245 grain bullet. I was planning to use a saboted bullet, but paperwork in with the rifle specifically warned against this due to the sabots leaving plastic in the barrel and causing deteriorating accuracy. I layed the rifle on sandbags, took the breech plug out & boresighted the scope until both the center of the bore & the scope were centered on a 6” paper plate at 115 yards. My first shot was low right on the 2’ cardboard target backer. Adjusting the scope I chased the point of impact back & forth all over the backer for another 7 shots. Could not get a “group” out of the tifle. By this time my shoulder was pretty sore from these magnum loads, so I packed up & headed home. On my way, I called CVA technical support to talk with them. The tech suggested I try 100 grains of powder in case I was pushing thebullet too hard down the barrel, causing a “loose firehose effect” as the bullet exited the muzzle. He suggested a heavier bullet as well, but I had the 245’s and I also wanted the higher velocity for a bit better trajectory if I needed to take a longer shot. I returned to the range a couple of days later, now loading 100 grains of powder. The difference in accuracy was immediately apparent. I could easily keep my shots inside the 6” paper plate. Bottom line is, with the correct powder charge & a good bullet this rifle performed very well and I am very happy with it gmantwo

Jon, yes Sir it does. The breech plug is designed to work with loose (instead of pelletized) powder, fit a musket cap (instead of a 209 primer), and has four holes cut into the sides of it that ensures that the ignition system is “exposed to the elements” in accordance with the regulations for muzzleloader season.

In my state of Pa, this ships directly to me. But some BP rifles require me to use an FFL. Just add the item to your cart add proceed to a MOCK checkout. If by page two it hasn't asked for an FFL and shows your address as delivery address, it will come straight to you. Then just return to Buds home page and keep shopping if you like. No sale required to find out that way.
