My new EDC. I'm really becoming a Ruger fan. My last EDC (still is for short trips) is the LCP Max, though prefer 9mm over 380. I have the Taurus GX4, S&W Shield and Glock 19. For a 9mm this is my go to - fit, size, capacity, just can't beat it. This gun is easy to shoot, easy to conceal, and most important is 100% reliable. No FTF or FTF. For the money you can't beat it. Highly recommend.

One of my favorite carry pistols. Small, lightweight, reliable, great sights, good capacity and very accurate for it's size. I have dozens of carry pistols, but usually choose this to go with me. Ruger did it right with this handgun.

Excellent short range 9mm and concelled carry gun. Uaual Ruger quality. Large grip makes it very comfortable to hold. Very smooth operation.

Buds Guns ordering process is perfect. The product was in stock and was shipped promptly. I concerns appeared when I open the Max-9 box then next day. Bear in mind I did a quick once over on the firearm at the FFL and all looked good. My sense of something was not quite right when I removed the chamber plug was removed and I let the slide return to the ready position. The slide had a 1/16" lateral movement to each side at the back of the slide. In addition, the entire slide could be move from side to side. This concerned me that something was loose or not set properly, I hesitated to shoot the firearm. After some research online and at the range reviewing another NEW Max-9 which did not have any lateral movement, I decided to send the Max-9 to Ruger for an evaluation.
I just received the Max-9 was returned in working order after firing 35 rounds without any malfunctions. Ruger did not report what may have been loose or what they found in the firearm.
So, off to the range I go.....

The Ruger Max-9 is a very nice pistol, its great in the hand and the trigger is one of the best striker fire triggers I've ever felt. I really didn't expect that but I'm glad its so good.I am a retiree and I am very regimental on taking care of firearms. Taking it apart is a little bit different having to use something to push out a takedown pin is not usually something I have had to do with my other pistols. It's pretty easy and you could use a lot of different things to do it. I used a wooden Q-tip to do the job and it worked very well. The manual says to use a punch or a paper clip which will work as well. That aside isn't a big deal as in the field you could find something to do the job when needed. The alloy steel barrel and its coating of black-oxide is done very nice, so I think that will translate into easier cleaning and better reliability for this superbly made firearm. For a little over 400 bucks this is the most loaded pistol I've ever purchased. I like a safety on my CCW so I feel a lot more comfortable about carrying with one in the pipe. I train at the range by drawing and taking the safety to fire as anyone should who carry's with a safety on their weapon. The safety on my pistol is easy to put into fire as you just have to push down with your shooting thumb as long as your right handed. The firearm came in a week which is very fast in our current situation in our country. Bud's did another outstanding job in getting me the firearm I wanted at the best price around and as quick as humanly possible. I am very impressed with the quality of this pistol and will be glad to add it to my carry weapons after I've had enough time to train with it so I have enough confidence with it as my CCW. I like Sigs and use them right now so this little Ruger has some big shoes to compete with and fill. I think it will work its way into the rotation without any problems.

Watched a lot of reviews both good and bad and decided to take a chance. Happy I did. Nice gun. Have run over 500 rounds of different brands through it with zero issues. Feels good in my medium size hands. Slide lock was a bit stiff at first but is easy to work now. The take down pin isn't ideal but I don't plan on cleaning it in the field. Othwise it's easy enough to break down and clean. Not a big fan of blacked-out rear sights, love the front sight though. Trigger is ok,. Reset could be a bit more tactile. Pretty accurate at self defense distances, 10, 20 & 30 feet, at least for me. I do prefer the extension on the 10 round mag.
